  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

CRI led strip lights

CRI led strip lights

Yep please ship my entire order, been on hold since the first.

Congratulations, Brandon!

This still going on?

Can people still get on it?

-dane

It really depends on what you are looking for, Dane. There are controllers available and a lot of people have "upgraded" to LED mats, so I have a lot of variable rolls available. Send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

Yay, looking forward to these arriving.
It feels like it's been an epic journey for everyone involved (and especially Brandon).

Cheers!

Yeah, it's been one hell of a journey, Craig. Excited to get these out to you guys!

Yep, please ship entire order, been waiting a long, long, long time.

Yeah, I know. We all have. I'll be in touch by email next week, David.

Congratulations, Brandon!

Thanks, Martin!

Anyone want a controller? :)

The first 5 cases just arrived.

Excited about the controllers, very cool, nice job!

Upgraded to mats? That was an option?

Thanks, Peter. It's still an option for people that have been waiting to receive their rolls with controllers. Email or PM me if you want the details.

Brandon or anyone in the know, I am interested in the LED mats, so what are the details/specifications, etc. I am down for a number of rolls. Might be nice to have a mix.
Thanks
David

Hi,

has anyone hear from Brandon yet? I cant reach him on emails...

I posted this in the Facebook Group on Sunday:

Update

I should receive the replacement knobs for the controllers on Monday. As soon as I do, I will resume sending out the first shipment of 100 controllers.

Regarding the upgrades, I'm going through all the existing upgrade orders to verify everything is correct with the discounts. I should be done with this tomorrow, then I will finish off the last of the upgrades. After that upgrades are over.

The scope of all this is a bit overwhelming. We are dealing with several tons of product in all, and I'm literally doing everything myself from product design and testing, sales, support through to fulfillment, which right now requires I drive 30 minutes to the post office and mail each package myself as there is no fulfillment service and the post office near me is closed for 3 weeks. I also got a surprise $4,000 controller bill for 2 years of shipping charges during development, extra samples that I sent out to people, which cost me twice as much per unit, and certifications (FCC, CE, etc.). It would be easier if I had someone to delegate the more menial tasks to, but for now, it's all me.

That's the latest.

Hi,

I should be caught up on emails tomorrow. The workload has been pretty intense the last week.

so,
1st day of use, I connected 2 strips onto the power kit and connected that to the P-tap and from there to the battery. After about 5mins the power kit got so hot that I had to shut it down. I disconnected the power kit connector from the P-tap and noticed that it yanked out part of the kit connector and the part got permanently stuck to the p-tap connector. I don't know if I am making any sense but the bottom line boils down to 2 questions:
1: Can we connect more than one strip to a connector? (If yes, I guess I got a bummer in shipment. If no, I got 5 strips, How am I suppose to power these 5 strips? What are my options).

2. How to I get to order more connectors and p-tap/connector cables?

Do not connect these to a P-tap connector, the strips should run on 12V only, unless you want to burn them out. You could try and find a 12v limiter like some used in boats, cars etc. place this between the p-tap and the strips, usually will go up to 50W.

Yeah, you are over-powering the strips, Abiodun. A fully charged camera battery is over 12v. You can use a DIY voltage regulator, they are not expensive and easy to find on eBay, or you can dim a controller down to like 80%. If you need any help with any of this, let me know.

Update

Good news! I received the replacement knobs, and that's all done now. So, I'm back to sending out the first shipment of controllers. As a reminder, I have the first 100 units in hand in Europe. The final payment will be made next week, which means I will have the full batch of controllers warehoused in the US and ready for fulfillment in approximately three weeks.

As for emails and LED mat and power unit upgrades, been working on that all week and still not done yet. Should finish this weekend.

Hi Brandon,

Tried PM'ing you but your inbox was full.

I'm interested in learning about the upgrade from variable strips to light matts.

Please let me know vince at candelacollective dot com

Thanks!

Vince

Hey Brandon

I paid for these things a while back now, haven't followed the thread.

What is happening with orders?

Cheers

Patrick, I just sent you an email that will catch you up on where things are right now. Please take a look when you get a chance.

I just emailed you, Vince.

Brandon,

I ordered and paid for these lights at the beginning of the group buy. Call me old fashioned but 3 years later and 292 pages of posts, you would have thought I would have received SOMETHING by now. WTF dude?
