  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

Update
Controllers: The custom color-coded terminals finally arrived. Now we are just waiting on 1 switch to arrive and certification to be complete. I'm told the first 100 controllers will be sent by the 20th and not a day later.
Mats: The first batch of mats will be sent by the 19th. Possibly a couple days earlier. A bunch of them are immediately going out to be used on two features. One in Australia and one in the US. Everything is going in the order people paid. An unpaid invoice doesn't hold your place in line.
Frames: Finally found a company that can make the carbon fiber pieces in the sizes I need. Samples were sent to me today. I should have them by Monday or Tuesday.
New Plan
I fly back to Europe on Saturday. I already changed my flight once, adding 2 weeks to my stay, which cost a fortune. Rather than changing my flight again, it's cheaper if I have the first 100 controllers and the first batch of mats sent to me in Europe. I'll also be taking a case of strips with me. Then I will be flying back to the US to meet the 900 remaining controllers and finally we can finish this off.

Brandon, the only response I've got from you since over the last few years is when I posted here to say I'd emailed you on your KoraLED email, and you wanted me to remove it from my post. You still haven't replied to any PMs, emails, or my request to be added to the FB group. And I was trying to buy more controllers to help too! Not sure how we are supposed to get a response from you?
 
I'm finally back home and have normal working Internet.

Here's the latest:

The controllers are done (!!). We are just waiting on the certifications to be finished (FCC, CE, etc). I'm told that the first hundred will be sent to me this week, guaranteed, without a doubt, they are 100% sure of it. They should be in hand by Monday or Tuesday.

The first mats have been shipped. I will have them Thursday or Friday. This is not the entire first batch, but those will follow close behind.
Looks like I will have the first frames in 2-3 weeks. Changing things up a little, which will actually bring the price down.

Working on a few more things as well, but more on that later...

I should catch up on emails, Facebook, and private messages tomorrow.

Sorry, Mark. I don't see any email from you. I just sent another invite to you on Facebook and I just emailed you. I only asked that you remove my email from the group to avoid spam. Waiting for your reply.

Thanks for posting this, Brian. I wasn't able to load this (or any) thread on RU with the awful Internet I had in the US.

I don't use facebook. Can you please give us some shipping dates (and please don't say in couple of weeks) for the controllers and strips (packages) if we are not in first 100 orders?

Miha, I really can't give exact dates until I have product in hand. There are too many variables that I can't control at all. I do share target dates as I get them. What I can tell you is that I can send your variable strips tomorrow from inside Europe or, assuming no serious delays with customs, I can send them next week with your controllers. You are on the list. If you want any more details than that it's best to email me.

Will you send us personal emails on delivery dates?

Yes, I will be contacting everyone individually.

You won't miss anything important not being on Facebook. I will be posting here too from here on out.

Do keep in mind that all of this is a manual process, there are thousands of invoices and hundreds of people, and I'm doing everything myself. From now until we wrap this up, this is all I'm doing. :)

In variable mode you are fading between 2 different color LEDs, so you have half the output. This is true of all lights like this. You could use them in single color mode though, meaning you power each color LED 100%, and you will get full output. The color temperature is warmer than daylight, but lots of people do this.
 
So 1 meter/yard/foot/section/whatever of variable color will have half the output (when set to either 3200k or 6000k) of the same length in the non variable variety? but should be similar when salt and peppered?
