  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

No one wants these controllers done more than me, believe me. It's really not about my health anymore. It's just about money. It started with 5-figures in unpaid invoices that were almost all controllers. I took a $17,000 loan with PayPal to keep everything going. I just took another loan with the merchant processor, which was approved today, and it gets us even closer. I would start selling gear, but I already sold most of it, camera included, to pay for my recovery.

I'm literally all in on getting us over the finish line and then I have $20k worth of controllers to sell before I'm made whole, which I don't see being a problem at all. Everyone who has used the controllers loves them and the only complaint I hear is they don't have enough of them and I hear that constantly.

Here is the link for the controllers:

There's a running count there showing how many more need to be sold. There are reviews there from people that have used them.

I'll post another update late tonight LA time. We are less than a week away from being where we need to be.

Just Bought 2 more!

Just Bought 2 more!

Hey ya'll,

I just bought 2 more Solaris controllers leaving just 44 left at the 50% off ($149 ea) price! These things are amazing and Brandons done an incredible job bringing super affordable super flexible, high CRI, no flicker / dimmable LED lighting to us RED Users.

If you consider the flexibility of not only the strip lighting but the China Ball, Matt Panels, Tubes and myriad other options he's working on, ya really can't have too many controllers - and they will certainly double in price in the future.

Not only for your own use, but for the community, let's get the last few out the door! (and no I don't work for Kora in any way just a big fan). Thanks!

At this rate it will be at least another 2 months for all the controllers to be sold

WE START MONDAY!

You heard that right, the controller production run starts Monday!

I am wiring over half of the last payment right now, and they will begin the process. I will be posting pictures as things progress with assembly.

The manufacturer will make all 1,000 controllers and then send me the first 100 units. Once I verify everything is correct the first 100 will ship out to you guys, then I make the final payment to the manufacturer, and the remaining 900 units will be on the way.

This is a massive relief. Very excited!

Ive purchased 2 units. You guys with experience with the units already. Do you think i need more controllers? If so how many is a good handy number to have?

Thanks.

CONGRATULATIONS, BRANDON!

Are the first 100 shipping in order of the original list on page 1?

Not exactly, going more by the order people paid with special priority given to people that have helped get us here by beta testing or other various means. I'll do my best to make it fair.

It depends on how many sources you want to be able to adjust. I would suggest at least 3-4.

The price for the controllers will be going up to $249, for everyone, soon.

I'll keep you guys updated all throughout the production process.

OK- about to place an order... What is a good starter kit for someone that wants variable temp lights?

Here is what I am guessing I should order:

12v power supply
Solaris Controller
2 x RGBA Strips

Am I missing anything?!

I would not suggest using RGBA for white light. It will never be as good as good as if you were to use a dedicated white emitter. I would suggest going with the variable strips if tungsten is needed. RGBW is also an option. It has a dedicated daylight emitter.

What do you want to use the lights for? I'm about to add mats, which are more suitable for kino-type fixtures.

Hey Brandon,

I have an ambitious setup in mind. Once I get the materials I need, I have a friend to help build.

I imagine many of the people on this list have something similar in mind for the controllers using strips, tubes, and 3rd party COB's:

- Several DIY ~1x1 modular mat assemblies that can be quickly put together to form an array of flat panel light setup (1x1, 1x2, 2x3, 4x4, etc...)
- Fresnel(s) fixture from either COB(s) or strips somehow
- Open face/PAR that could sub for an M18, several COB or strips somehow
- A controller array that could be house lighting for a CYC studio with ceiling grid
- All kinds of other creative setups

My question is for people like me who are not so electrically inclined and knowledgable,
What are the limits for the controllers as far as what setup they can power? If I were to
take the materials to someone who can build it, could they make a larger fixture that is
powered by more than one controller then?

I haven't been able to answer these type of questions to people I'm trying to sell these to?

Any help appreciated, thanks

That's me at the end of the queue then :)

The controllers can handle 40 amps (10A x 4 channels) at 12-24V. Theoretically, you could go up to 36v, but the maximum wattage will be the same as would be at 24v (960w), so it's less than 10a per channel then and, thought I wouldn't suggest it, it is possible.

A modular frame system like you describe is something I am working on. The mats that I'm about to post are perfect for that. You can roll your own setup or use the frames that I will have later this summer. The first batch of mats will ship with the controllers.

A COB fresnel can work, but it really is going to depend on the setup. I would leave this to someone well versed in this stuff though if enough people want this I can put together something that makes it more plug in play.

I'm working on a 4k par equivalent light. An 1800w equivalent is also possible.

The controllers are made in a way that you can link them together for large sources (4 x 4 or 8 x 8, both coming), control many different sources with a virtual light board app on an iPad, or just use them invidually. There are lots of options.

I plan to make a lot of videos about how to set all this stuff up.

Dear Brandon,
can you give us some more inormation on the mats? What size have they got, how many Amps, are there 12V and 24V versions? How do they compare to the strips in the amount of light they emit?
When can we order them, so they will ship together with the other stuff?
Thank you!

The page for the mats is up, but not public yet. Need to add more and fix a little bug and then it will go public. Write me on Facebook and I'll send you the link.

Hi Brandon,
I'm not on Facebook could you send me the link to the mats? Please and thank you kindly.
Also sent ya a PM, sure your swamped, just wanted to give a friendly heads up.

I'm not on Facebook. Tough you could send me a private message here.
But I found the page :-) only at the moment the specs are still missing. I wait a day or two till they are filled in.
Are they the same size as the YUJI LED mats?
