  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

I can answer the bonus question, Mr. Vetter, as I've already asked it. Since the variable temperature is achieved by simply fading between the two color cells on the strips (which divide the total number of lights in two, half at each temperature), the power draw using two variable strips is the same as if you were powering a single strip of daylight or tungsten.

Sorry I have been out of touch. I've been in Siberia filming on Lake Baikal.

For the night and interior scenes we lit everything with these Group Buy LEDs.

To get to the cabin location we had to drive 2.5 hours from Irkutsk to a small village and then take this crazy Mad Max looking vehicle across the frozen lake for 1.5 hours.

I couldn't be more pleased with the results and none of it would have been possible to film without these lights.

It really was an amazing experience.

If you emailed me recently and didn't get a reply yet, this is why. I should be all caught up on emails today. I'm working on an email to everyone on the group buy since a lot of people are not checking the forum for updates and I'll have an update on this in a day or so.

234 pages and I can't find the reply... When will the combo strips + controller will start shipping?

This is the latest:

SHIPPING: Controllers will start shipping the last half of April. I expect it will be mid-May before all the orders are sent, since I have to do it manually. I'll get them out as fast as I can! :)

FINAL CONTROLLER SPECS

It's been a long time coming...

• Input: 12-24V DC
• Rating: 40A Max (10A x 4 channels). That's 4 rolls, or 65 ft/20m, of light!
• Low-Mode (2 stop output reduction) for fine tuning of brightness levels.
• Flicker-free to 200+ FPS! Our original spec was 120FPS. I've tested up to 240FPS.
• BUILT IN WIRELESS: WiFi (iOS/Android) and RF control will greatly expand the capabilities of our controller. You will be able to link together and control multiple controllers and create a virtual light board, program light effects, and much more!
• NEW FEATURE: Single/Variable/RGB/RGBW support! Basically, this controller is compatible with any type of strip you throw at it! RGB and RGBW support was never part of our original spec, but it's there now! I also have CRI95+ RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White) strips in the works, if you want some let me know.
• NEW FEATURE: Single Channel Control! This means you can adjust the brightness levels for up to 4 light sources with only 1 controller (via WiFi/RF). This is something most of us will use every day and it was not part of our original spec!
• FULLY OPEN: Unlike other controllers/dimmers which limit you to using only their own strips, our controller has no such limitations. Use it with whatever you want.

Group Buy Price: $127.92

Just seeing this, I want one. I am not sure if I ordered one controller with my order last year. Could you confirm if I had one ordered (last August / September, can't remember) within my original order? If not then please make it 2 units, otherwise one unit now.

Thanks

I am excited about these.

Brandon hope your feeling better.

Any news yet?

The final printing is approved and I'm waiting to see the results.

The manufacturer is finishing one last software tweak, which I'm testing today.

I am excited about these.

Brandon hope your feeling better.

Me too!

Feeling pretty ok at the moment. Thanks Eric!

I'm still catching up on emails and I need to send out the email blast to everyone with the latest news, which I will do as soon as I clear out my inbox.

I'm getting PMs about lights and controllers. Yes, it's still possible to order more, if you do it quickly. Be sure to include your email address when you PM me.

I will be making a lot of demo/tutorial videos that I hope to have done by the time the bulk of the orders go out. Then you guys can hit the ground running once you get your lights.

What does that mean for shipping times? It would be great to have a realistic time frame. it seems it's consistently pushed and I do understand it will be a better product for it, but it would great to be able to plan other projects around it. They are an exciting tool to use. I just want to use them. Thanks very much.

Software tweaks don't affect hardware. If the schedule changes, I'll let everyone know immediately. It won't be by much.

Does that still mean it's shipping by the end of this month?

Don't plan anything around getting your controllers this month. A few will go out, but most will be in May. As I said several weeks ago, I'll try to get them all out by mid month. As I said 10 minutes ago, if anything changes, I'll let everyone know immediately. That's all the info I have right now. Everything is in motion... printing, bulk components ordered, etc. :)

Two 1' x 1' panels and two 1' x 3' (foldable!) "kino flo" panels. It can all literally fit in a backpack with room to spare, frames included! We made these tonight. I'll tell you guys what this is for tomorrow... :)

Hey Brandon, could you include a close up shot detailing how you wired these LED strips together in series? This looks much more elegant than the way I wired mine in parallel. I'd like to see how you're doing it!

Brandon, will the controllers be upgradable software wise? Not that I know if that would make much sense, but who knows :) just curious.

Hello REDcrew, I am offering my order for sale. I purchased 2 variable strips, controllers, and everything to get them going. I have not received any components so we should be able to have Brandon transfer the order to your name once we make the sale. Please message me if you are interested. I can get the exact order details for you.

thanks

Hey Brandon I tried an email and PM but haven't heard back so thought I'd try here.

I'm in LA to for another week and was hoping to pick up my order to save on shipping to Australia. Would love to know if this is possible or not. Thanks man.
