Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

Brandon, I wish you all the best!

I was hospitalized a little while back when I had a TIA, "mini stroke".

Now my only concerns are getting my insurance to pay for all the tests they did.

As we are approaching the first anniversary of this group "buy", are there any news of shipping to Europe?
Thanks and good luck with your health issues!

Thanks, but considering this started in December, and that was long before we even thought of building our own controller, it's not really fair to say the first anniversary is fast approaching. Especially when there are still 4 figures in unpaid invoices.

Regarding your order, if you want everything except the controllers sent to you, PM or email me. The controllers are nearly ready, but still a few weeks out. They work great, but the HFR support is being extended. Right now we are good to at least 60fps. The target is 120fps. I think it will be nailed down this week.

Sorry about your bad news Brandon, good to know you haven't let it get the better of you though.

The unpaid invoices is just bullshit imo, people shouldn't do that. They should at least have the decency to tell you if they've changed their mind and want out of the group buy, or not sign up in the first place if they're going to be too busy to follow through. It's understandable that some people might get caught up in the moment of catching a bargain, then get cold feet when the time comes to actually pay, but that's no excuse for going incommunicado and just leaving the group buy organizer in the lurch.

It's crazy that someone could put all that effort into organizing a group buy for others, only to end up out of pocket themselves because of it.

I guess there would be legitimate reasons why people wouldn't respond to the invoices, but I doubt that's what's going on in every case, not when there are that many of them.

I don't know if this would work or not, but it might be a good idea from now on for the organizers of Reduser group buys to inform the mods which Redusers sign up for a group buy but don't pay up (or don't notify the group buy organizer they can't pay or have changed their mind about it). Future group buy organizers could then run the list of their participants against the mods 'secret' list of non-payees and either be forewarned, or decide not to have that person participate in their group buy.

As far as I know, at the moment there's nothing at stake for a person when they get in on a group but then bail out of it without a word, but at least if they're jeopardizing their chances of getting in on other group buys they might be more careful and considerate about how they go about the ones they do sign up for. Which naturally leads to the question of whether people should be banned from the forums altogether for getting in on a group buy and not responding to requests for payment...

Anyway, that would be something for the future. In this particular instance, all I can think that could be done would be to list the names of the people who haven't responded to the invoices in the hope that it's a genuine oversight on their part and that maybe some other Reduser who knows them and has some other way to contact them can remind them about the group buy. A long shot at best I know, but what else can you do?

Don't know how you will handle the unpaid invoices situation, but I would be up for one daylight and one tungsten strip with a controller each. So maybe if someone backed out...
Shipping would need to be to Germany.

I have a similar health situation in my close family right now. All I can say is, keep your loved ones close and never hesitate to show them how you feel about them.
Best, Chris

I concur with this.

Right now there are no consequences whatsoever that will befall those who choose to silently opt out of a group buy they've signed up for.

Hello Brandon,

2 months since last update (post 1). Is it possible to get some infos about our payments? I even don't know if for example I'm all set to receive my order?

I think a xls type of list would be great to see who is waiting for delivery and who needs to pay.

Pat

I wish you a prompt recovery.

I am momentarily closing this thread, speaking will fellow mods and will also email Brandon.

Everybody sit tight.

David

OK.

No list is going to be published and Brandon will be posting an update here in the next day or so.

Update:

I will reach out again to the people that have not paid still and will approach people on the waiting list to fill their spots. It's only a few people and just the people writing me since yesterday wanting
in on this deal would be enough to fill those spots. Our waiting list is larger than many group buys. There will be no delays from this.

As I mentioned a few times, the lights and kits are warehoused and ready to ship. If you want your lights now and controllers later, PM or email me and I'll get it sent out to you. I have sent a few things out to people already and I'm waiting for them to arrive to confirm everything is going smoothly with fulfillment before I process everyone that has already contacted me. There's no room for error and I want to make sure everything is shipped correctly by the fulfillment warehouse. I don't expect there to be any problems, but they suggest erring on the side of caution and doing a few "test" deliveries before batching out everything. Our stuff is warehoused both on the west coast (LA) and east coast, so we can minimize shipping costs and make sure things arrive quickly.

Now about the controllers... We are going to be later than my last estimate and it's my fault. When I started having health problems and losing vision in my eye I missed an email from the manufacturer. They were waiting on me and I didn't realize it. As it stands now, they will have the sample unit to me next week. The last sample I tested worked fantastic, but was not flicker free at high frame rates. Our target has always been 120 fps and this new sample should handle that. Everything else is done and these controllers are fantastic. Everyone I have showed the last sample to wants one. I know the delays are frustrating, but I don't want to compromise on these just to get this over with. These controllers will be rock solid.

Next week, once I receive the sample, I will post an update here. Once I sign off on the unit I will be given an exact manufacturing schedule and I can give you specific dates. It's going to be a few more weeks.

Again, if you want your lights and kits now, PM or email me and I'll add you to the queue.

Thanks for your patience, everyone.

I can wait till its complete.

Longest wait for a Xmas present ever but Im sure its worth it ;)

Thanks Brandon.

^ - what they said.

Best wishes, Brandon!
