  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

We are about to start the second small order for more lights.

If you want in on this, please PM me both your email and approximately how many rolls do you want. I need to get the count started.

If you already asked me to put you on the list, but did not tell many how many rolls you want, please PM me the number.

The fixed and variable connector kits have strip to strip connectors.
 
It would be nice to receive the LEDs from the first group buy before the second group buy begins.
 
This second order is not a normal group buy. It's basically to let people in who want more now. It will be open for about 1 week and does not slow down anything.

Everyone wins if we go this route because it means I can get us tubes NOW and various other accessories that people in the first group buy want more of. Otherwise you guys have to wait until August because I'm booked solid for 2 months.

I am finishing a feature overseas in May, June and July. I am taking off 2 weeks in May to fly back to the US just to get all these orders out to you guys. We can easily fit in another little bulk order for lights (and more accessories). Our numbers are already high enough for the $79 deal. Then you guys have a couple months to decide how much more you want when we do the next group buy in late July or August.

We also need to find buyers for 73 more controllers since too many people cut their controller orders in half when we went from the cheap budget controllers to our own custom built beast controller. This is another reason I want to do this order now. We have new buyers lined already for these.

It's a win win solution for everyone. I only wish I communicated things more clearly in my initial posts about it.
 
A 2nd group buy should NOT happen until all 1st group buy products are received in good condition.
Brandon, you are exhibiting some tale-tale signs of a Ponzi-schemer. Taking money, making promises, NOT DELIVERING, then taking more money and making more promises while NOT DELIVERING. Not to mention you have left the country. I'm sure you are going to be very angry that I'm EVEN SUGGESTING this, as you are WORKING SO HARD, and i DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA, but I'm just letting you know how this looks from across the internets. When I asked for my money back a few months ago because price increases, product delays, and product changes, you got very angry and told me it was too much work for you to pass those lights on to the next in line, and I'd be blacklisted. Now you have still not delivered, but you are taking more orders and more money because DEMAND IS SO HIGH, yet still not delivering orders paid for in December.
You are clearly in control of how you proceed, as I couldn't even get my money back from you if I tried, but please stop getting so defensive when people aren't satisfied with all the amazing work you are doing for everyone, because the fact is that it is quiet disappointing.

Ok, you guys win. The second group buy will start in August. This is a small private bulk run for people who need more lights quickly. It will be handled off thread. If you want in PM me.

New accessories (tubes, a few surprises, etc.) will have to wait until August too.

I tried to find a solution where we all win, but I don't need the drama a vocal minority seem to be inspiring.

Makes my work load less anyways.

Not that I know anything more than anyone else in this group buy...but I usually have a solid radar for any type of scam. Not feeling that here. Just based on many facts. I think Brandon is the real deal and doing a great job. I will be happy when the package arrives on my door as its been much longer than I originally anticipated, but I also think we are all going to be happy with these lights.


(ps...if it were a scam...you would have known for sure a long time ago)

As I recall you wanted a refund for 1 of the 3 rolls you bought to help pay for controller upgrades and you didn't expect there to be shipping costs. I told you that's too much trouble, but if you wanted a full refund I would do it, but you can't participate in future group buys we do. I apologized for taking such a hard line and explained it's because of the workload and personal risk involved with dealing with all this by myself. You decided to upgrade to the new controllers and keep everything the same and it ended positively with you saying you were excited to get everything. If you want a refund now, email me. I'll buy your stuff out of my own pocket. I need more anyways.

I have worked my ass off on this group buy and, to be honest, I'm pretty insulted by your accusations. That said, I understand that you are angry. I have kept this thread updated semi-daily since the beginning. I have also totally changed the schedule for my film around in order to manage all of this. So much so it has required recasting a major character (she got pregnant) and extensive reshoots. I'm also taking 2 weeks off in the middle of the shoot to get these orders out to you guys.

My reputation means everything to me. I really am doing the best I can to try keep everyone happy and you will all get everything you ordered. Don't ever doubt that. We are a few weeks out from being done with this. The next group buy is in August long after everyone will get what they ordered.

Guess I'm in the minority, but I appreciate the hard work you have put in for no pay, and that the delays have been to improve the quality of the final deliverables. I also have plenty of lights already, so I am not desperate for them. I would if I were you refund people who want that option even though it is a pain.
 
I appreciate your efforts too Brandon. As a fellow Group Buy manager, I feel your pain. I finally realized that running these Group Buys are not worth the headache. I learned the hard way. I won't be doing any more group buys any time soon. You end up working hundreds of hours, and putting up with all kinds of complaints and wild accusations, and for what? Ultimately, they aren't worth the effort. I'm sure you'll think twice before you start another one. Thanks for sticking with this one and going out of your way to get us the best possible product. Anyone who complains about lead time on a product from a group buy should just buy retail.
 
I appreciate what Brandon's done too. I exchanged mails with him quite some time ago, when this was just an idea (with my thoughts etc) and he's gone way more into the details & technical practicalities - rather than just delivering spools.

Personally, I was looking forward to tubes/China Balls and more of Brandon's well thought out (and cheap!) solutions... but I guess that'll be August now.

I have lights, these spools are going to be extras in my arsenal, for times when normal fixtures would be a pain... or when making DIY solutions for extra lights (like working in no-power locations and running these lights from lo-fi solutions) will be a life saver.

So, adding my thanks also ;)
