I don't have time to read through 25 pages to find out about how to control the variable color strips. Is there a budget dimmer/color controller available? What does it cost? And is the CRI on the variable strip really 95?

What would it cost to buy 5 variable strips with controllers?

Thanks.

Stephen

Yes, the variable strip is CRI 95. It's totally custom built to spec. I paid for the PCB design already. They are really beautiful lights. The price is $79 each if we can get to 500 spools. We are getting close!

There are budget controllers that will be available. I have a company who is modifying an existing product to make it flicker free for video use. They are doing a special production run for us if we order at least 100 of them. That shouldn't be a problem considering how many people are on board. The price is not final yet because I'm working out the final specs with them, but it will be under $50 each.

Once you begin to look out for ideas how to use those strips you get tempted to order more and more... Thanks for posting the examples.
I might adjust my order again, if we hit the lower price-tag and have final specs/price for the controller/dimmer.

I already hope for a second run in a few months, i'm sure i will want more after i have started to play around with them. :)

Quick question into the group here, what is the advantage of ordering D and T, if we have a great V option for the same price? Why do you guys prefer those?

Totally agree. This is sort of the future of lighting; small form factor, powerful, high quality, low power draw, versatile.

Hi Brandon,

Please add me to the list.
I'm in for 3 strips (one of each kind) and maybe one or two controllers. Shipping to Canada.

Cheers !

I'll change my order from 2xD to 5xD if we can hit the lower price point.

My apologies if this has already been asked: For the variable color temp versions, are half the LED's Tungsten and half Daylight, similar to most bi-color/variable LED fixtures? Basically I'm wondering if to get the max. output on the variable version, does it have to be at around 4600k or so?

For me, variable is good when I want to dail things in specifically - but fixed daylight or Tungsten will be easier for certain things and (importantly) will only need a power supply (unless you want to run with a dimmer) - but the variable needs a controller to be active. So, I can see for certain situations, it'll be easier just to juice something rather than having to run a dimmer/controller as well.

OK, this is getting interesting, my original order is: 1(d), x 1(t), x 2(v)

Please update it to:
2(d), x 2(t), x 4(v)

I'm in for 2 variable with dimmers thank you.

I might up my order as well...this is indeed getting very interesting...thanks!

Exactly, so much options. From pizza-box and diy-chinaball up to real fine set-integration... Crazy and beautiful. This really opens up some doors.

Looking forward to learn more about the controller dimmer and power-options, especially what kind of batteries you guys will prefer. :)

Ok, i get a better idea now. Makes sense. :)

The one thing i'm a bit worried about with the V is to get them to exactly match each other.

We have 115 people on board so far and we're up to 371 spools! Our target of is 500 is within reach!

Reminder: If you are in this Group Buy and you haven't sent me a PM with your email yet, please do so asap. Thanks!

Put me down for two variables with controllers. Thanks!

Updated!

I am going to do my bit to get the price down to 79 per panel. 6x v, 4x t, 4x d. If everybody upped their order by 20% we would get past 500 and you would receive more lights for the same money.

count me in, atleast 1 daylight and one tungsten but if the controller works out, the 2x variable would be ideal

Not a big order but Brandon please change mine to 1 (d) and 2 (v) :)
