  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

Have you gone further in your tests and can you share your setup?

I need to mimic a car interior from Fast and Furious 6 (Dom and Letty race scene).

Crappy thing is I might have to use a GoPro for the floor board view.
yes actually. My brother built a really really simple lantern setup without a lantern lock I'll post later today (and in the group).
It's a modified version of the bottle but using the 1liter ones along with a base to stand on without the lantern lock. I believe the china lantern is 24".

Looks great, Note! Did you shoot any tests with it yet?

Is there a PDF with setup tips with basic options?

The basics are really simple. There are black lines and copper terminals showing where you can cut. Use a DC power source ~12V and connect + to + and - to - and that's it. The variable lights have +, WW (warm white) , and CW (cool white) terminals. WW and CW are -. At some point I will see about putting together a PDF. I'm totally buried with work related to this group buy right now. If anyone wants to help with a PDF like this, let me know :)

HI Brandon- Can you please respond to my email. Thanks.

Your order is going out tomorrow, too. I'll email you back later today.

So it's been so long I've forgotten and maybe it's changed. Does the controller need a power supply in addition to the controller still or do you just plug it straight into AC power?

You need a 12V DC power source for it.

Is it possible to screw a V-lock plate to the controller? Can we dig some holes in it? Or are the boards to close to the backplate?

Pat

Sure, there are mounting holes on each side of the unit you can use to attach whatever you want to:

I'm in in need of 1x 2.1mm DC jack and 1x 2.1mm DTAP.
Does anyone have an extra they could sell me that's in the States?

I just tried an Extron AC adapter and I get flashing lights.

Didnt have any DC options was that a dumb idea?

Ill head over to supply store tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

Need to do a car interior this week-end.

What are you in need of Eric?

I want to create a few strips for a car interior shot.

I guess Ill need to find 12v DC batteries and setup some cardboard base with wire points.

I was hoping to find some examples on here but post is daunting :)

Brandon, Can you please reply to my email? Thank you.

Adriaan, I believe Brandon posted on Facebook he's resting for a couple of days, as his health and symptoms have gotten worse recently. I'm sure he'll reply once he's back on his feet.

best

Haha I might try a car interior :p
But couldn't you just use vmount adapters + sony batteries and power via 2.1mm to dtap?

Im about to test that theory tomorrow but need to cut up an existing dtap.
I need it on batteries have you tried basic 12v?

I haven't on a basic 12v.

If you have a battery plate you can always use that too since they generally a range. But using sony via vmount is cheaper than a direct vmount haha (though I haven't use one)

Im too lazy to find any of these parts, any chance you can post a photo and parts list :)

Brandon, can you give me an accurate window when full orders will be mailed out? I would like to get a target of when to expect my order.

Thank you you for your help and effort putting this together.

Thanks Nick. Yeah, I started losing my vision again with another MS attack. The doctor is keeping my eye dilated for 5 days and I can't see a computer monitor very well. If I twist my iPad or phone around I can focus a little. I'm under strict orders to "avoid screens" or reading. The intense pain is gone, but still a lot of swelling. It should be healed in a few days, hopefully. There's not much I can do about this guys.

I'm hoping to have a final unit for approval in my hands just after Christmas. I will have a play by play update once my vision is back.

Merry Christmas and Best Wishes to you Brandon.

I'm looking into the possibility of using strips for fixtures to be a permanent setup for a cyc wall - 60' (18m) long x 20' (6m) tall, 2 corners > 20' (6m) each side.

Overhead for the permanent lighting of the wall/backdrops.

Anyone else done anything like this?

Got to finally use these today.
My bud made me these

Great tech, cant wait for dimmer :)
