GROUP BUY - Blueshape V-Mount Batteries

Hey everyone,

Just got allocated/paid for an Epic-W. It's my first Red and I'm torn between AB Cine 150s and this awesome deal on the BV 150s. The biggest thing keeping me from jumping in on the group buy is that even with an adjustable Wooden battery plate, the BV 150s are going to stick up at least an inch above the camera body and I have no idea how inconvenient (or not) that will be. Anyone have any experience or insight that they could share?

Thanks!

Hey Tony! I guess your question is kind of one of personal preference and needs. I personally own some BV150 and love them. They are a great size. They are similar in size to the RED Brick used in this Wooden Camera demo video: https://youtu.be/qmeMHryRMaY?t=2m55s

For me and my setups the BV150 work fine. I do wish they were a little shorter... but I am just mounting them directly on the DSMC2 V-Lock I/O expander.... so I don't have the "low-mode" option you have with the Wooden Camera lowering kit. Now, if I was using the lowering kit from Wooden Camera I don't think I would have an issue at all. That combo seems really nice. But even with the normal height I have been able to work around it and have not had an issue.

That's my 2-cents. Others, please feel free weigh in with your thoughts and experience.

Ketch above stated that for his setups he found the AB Cine 150 v-mount to better suit his needs height-wise... however it sound like their bulk is a draw back.

Steve please change my order to:

6 x BV270HD

And possibly
1 x CVS8X

Changes have been made on the master list on page 1.

Haha, you guys are starting to switch to the higher capacity batteries :) Are you planning to run some lights on these as well?

Thanks for getting this together!! Definitely going to jump on a few. I did read your description of the 'standard vs HD' and I kind of understand, but to the point.. is there any reason one would need the 'HD' to run any of the RED cams, or will the standards work fine all around? Thanks again!

Also, maybe a dumb question, but I have not used V-mounts outside of RED Bricks so have not tried this. Will the blueshape charger work for other brands of V-mounts easily? Or are chargers proprietary?

The "standard" Blueshape batteries will power REDs just fine. The High Demand are more for battery powered LED lights or cameras with tons of accessories you're trying to power.

As far as chargers... it seems each brand usually makes there own charger that is tuned to their batteries / cells / electronics. However some batteries work fine on other chargers. For Blueshape it technically voids the warranty to charge their batteries on any other charger than their own.

Thanks man! Good to know. I'll figure out what I need and post up here soon.

Dustin Ward "would like to be put down for 2x BV090, 1x BV150, and 1x CVTR2"

I'm adding you to the master list on page 1. Thanks!
