  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY 2019 – OSEE LCM 215-HDR 1000nits 21.5" Monitor Kit

Works well, only uses 25watts! Or at least that's what my battery thought. 8hours on a 190wh battery. Pretty awesome.

One note, the power cord included was worthless and the holes were so big it wouldn't even pretend to stay plugged into the monitor pins. So plan on a new cable asap.

Hey William - just sent you a PM, if they'll let one more order through, I'd love to jump in!

Thanks!

For those of you using this monitor to grade, are you connecting directly from computer or using an IO box. If IO box, what are you using? I'm new at this stuff and wondering how I should connect this guy once I get it to my laptop.

I'm using the UltraStudio Mini Monitor

Ok, so I'm playing around with the monitor and it's pretty nice. I do have a quirk, maybe someone can see if their's does this.

My gamma seems to be different in 1080p mode and 2k mode.

Let me explain, I've ran some tests.

I am outputting using a BM Decklink 4k card.

My default gamma is set for 2.2. When I output a 1080p (1920x1080) video is looks fine.

When I output the same, albeit, 2k version of the same video (2048x1080), my blacks are lifted. I have to go into the menu and set my gamma to BT1886 for it to look correct.

When I go back to 1080p settings and video, now my blacks are crushed and need to manually reset gamma back to 2.2.

What gives? Scratching my head on this one. The only setting I change is 1920x1080 vs 2048x1080.

Even without playing any file through the system, there's a visual signal change when the letterboxing comes up for 2k mode.

And yes, the included light stand mount is crap. Wouldn't even fit on a baby pin. Hole is too small.

Here's a picture when you swicth to 2k mode. You can see the letterboxing and the lifted black signal. Is this my system or the monitor?

Got this in the group buy. Love it for production and in the edit.

But the lack of accessory mounts without buying an 80 dollar plate is annoying. Has anyone found a cheaper solution? Or am I forced to buy from them?

Yep, these $10 plates from smallrig fit perfectly with the right screws.

Quite frankly I was VERY DISAPPOINTED when I received 2 units of the $80 plate I bought from OSEE and even more depressed when I later found out that this $10 plate from smallrig (I had lying around in my studio) did exactly fit. Just feels like a rip off from Osee

Sorry, not sure what screws offhand. I have a lot of screws on laying around so it wasn't a big deal to find ones that fit.
If I were to guess I'd say M3 M4? I know they were on the smaller side and I used some small washers to fit securely.

Not saying I disagree with how you feel, but to their defense, they are making a custom part for a very small group of people.

Then again they could have just used 1/4-20 mounting points and let us use whatever we wanted on there but hey.

Welp, here's hoping customer service is okay...

My unit seems to be dying.

Went through CS, looks like I"m going to have to send it in for a new panel. No warranty.

:(
