Does anyone know of any good vintage PL mount lenses out there available to buy that are great values (compared to their modern day counterparts)?

well, that is a tough one since most good vintage PL mount lenses are very desirable so they are pretty expensive too, but you can get out a little cheaper if they arent rehoused and are using a pl adapter on something like cooke panchros, schneiders or older zeiss mk1s. i think a great bargain are sets of zeiss standard speeds, usually can be found for about $25k.

The cheapest PL glass you will find is LOMO glass that's been remounted. I think there's a set for sale in the FS section right now, actually. I don't know that it's particularly "good" glass, but it has a unique look, and it's cheap. Other than that, the best deal you will get will be the new Sony CineAlta lenses or some old Red Primes. But none of those are vintage.

I agree with Jordan that the cheapest vintage glass that can be considered "good" is probably old Zeiss standard speeds (Mk1 or Mk2), or Canon K-35's. But $25-$35K isn't what I would say are great values, especially when you can get Cooke Mini's for just a little more, you know?

They certainly aren't "vintage" in the traditional sense, but the Zeiss Contax prime rehouses that G.L. Optics are doing appear to be worth a look. Cinema Glass

Edit: Forgot to say, they do them in PL mount.

Hi Nathan,

We have many clients looking to sell one kind of PL lens or another, do you have any particular vintage look that you gravitate towards? Cinematechnic is doing lens validation/inspection for Hot Rod Cameras in house, and will offer a detailed report.

All the best,

I.
