  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Getting the Look of Flash Photography!

B2Pro...interesting web layout and some colour & font choices...

I can't figure out their costs or where to order, went to www.b2pro.com and cant find prices or an 'add to cart' or 'sales', etc

B2Pro must be one of those sites that does not place prices publicly, but you ned to send an inquiry and or call, I did actually send them one, but I guess they must know I have been working directly with Briese, and imagine that I just wanted to do wrong by them, not my intentions at all, just curious of their price point, since the Briese are well in the thousands, which means your Focus Reflectors go from few thousands for the 77 to about 20K for their 330, an absolute Power Monster!!

BUt as said again and again, many years ago, and now more true then ever with RED, if I was to only have but one lighting type in my arsenal which would have to cover all my Cinematography and Photography needs, well the Briese Focus will be absolutely IT!!

Their light distribution, is so smooth in the entire Parabolic surface, and the Focus system is just to be amazed by it, with the HMI's continuos lighting for Motion you have such light spread that I have yet to get with traditional Soft boxes and any other reflective surfaces, then in Photography you have such a powerful burst of Flash so greatly distributed that your model and or any photographed subject is absolutely raped in.

Just amazing lights, just not as easy to set up, and very good care must be taken of them, both during transport and setting up, this are worth thousands of dollars, and their material, even so well made is still a material that can easily rip apart and or brake.

The reason that I send them an inquire for pricing, was because I wanted to compare to my Price list form Briese, as I'm looking in to offer a Special REDUSER Group buy on the FOCUS system.

Any way Shawn if you like e-mail me, and I'll email you back the Briese Price PDF along with the PDF catalog. Just so you know, this are not B2Pro pricing, or just call the NY office, here is the link to their NY Office site: http://www.briese-ny.com/

Jarred, are you guys using umbrellas from the new DP range from B2Pro? Any advice on which fabrics/fixtures/shaping tools work best with Red MX?

I wonder if anybody else has been experimenting with parabolic lights and
the results of it. this thread is extremely informational and I would love it
to keep going.

I bit the bullet and bought the new ARRI X40 (4K) with Black internal reflector and 1.8x1.2m Chimera.
I own a lot of Broncolor gear for photography but with the ARRI x40 you get the best of both worlds. Hard light with beautiful hard edges and with the Chimera the most stunning soft light. I when the whole hog and bought the high speed ballast which can handle 1000FPS.

This is perfect for my white CYC studio.

I also love lighting with my 1.2K HMI's with a china ball chimera. Great beauty light.

Even the cheap $100 1K tungsten china balls are a great beauty light. String 20 of the 500Watt ones (Im 240V so you can work out the 110v versions) together and you get a great effect.

best post ever....I do a lot of glamour photography and want to start using my RED instead of my stills camera and have been wondering about how to achieve the same lighting. Shame these delicious Briese lights are beyond any realistic credit card limit :/

True, but here "The you pay what you get" applies more then you know, in over twenty years of Photography
I have never used anything as good and versatile as the BRIESE FOCUS line.
