  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A question for Peter. I seem to recall you used to be able to map one of the colour wheels as a trackball in the past. Is it possible to do that now so that, when Resolve isn't the front application, one can still use the Davinci panels for mouse and keyboard duties? The panels take up so much real estate, fitting in a regular mouse and keyboard is tricky.
 
The mouse 'on the panels' function on the old panels was not as popular as you might think, and came with other challenges so its not on the current panels. With the new BMD manufactured control surface users don't need another keyboard, as its in the centre panel, and a mouse to the right seems to be popular although I have seen some trackballs used as well.

Wacom all the way. I also have my trusty Logitech mouse too for certain things, but I use the Wacom most of the time. My Tangent Wave panel collects dust since I don't find it to my liking. Some people like them, but I never use it... Wave for sale? Mostly kidding about the dust, it's very clean and probably has less than 3 hours of real usage. Seriously, I think I'm going to go post up a for sale ad now... Nah, I'll wait until tomorrow when I have better light to take a picture of it. ;)

...I honestly have not tried the Wave panel with Resolve. It's propped up in the corner with some other things I'm no longer using.

It's interesting how overrated such devices are.

You either build a real grading suite with proper hardware (CP 200 at least) and all the bell and whistles or you go the classic Discreet/Quantel route with a large Wacom board. Saves you money, space and is the most ergonomic solution out there - proved since over 20 years.

Personally I like the Wave. I would probably like the build quality of the CP-200 better but to get the same functionality out of it I'd need 3 modules at 18k USD... So I'll stick to the Wave for now, in conjunction with the Wacom.

For me a control surface speeds up productivity a lot.
