How ‘ground breaking’ is it for a camera made by a Nikon
company to have a nikon mount? Nice … yes! Groundbreaking? Surely it was more groundbreaking for a nikon camera to have a canon mount.?

Ps How about a LPL mount a with data… and all the functionality I had with my Monstro …? and if you chuck in the ND system (for an extra 5k or less) on the little camera I,ll buy another one…

LPL holds value, though it is essentially a positive lock EF Mount. It's been rather difficult to get the industry to adopt it just yet as there's only two lens sets that require it.

PL with /i Data is vastly more important and thankfully is something that exists. And the eND Mount is less than $5K. The smaller bodies however, don't have the vertical space to do it internally like the XL does, so we need cartridges for now if you want to go to clear. And personally, I wouldn't mind a glass solution. It would be nice to have this in camera some way in the smaller cameras.

2 sets? …

A not exhaustive list of LPL lens sets would take you to over 10x very different sets of LPL (never PL) lenses

Leitz Elise set
leitz Hugo set
TLS Rangfinder set
TLS Mamiya fast set
ARRI signature primes
ARRI Enso lens
Zero optic leitz vintage M set (plus their modern set)
ARRI rental has also over 4 different sets of LPL only lens

There is more coming! Some really good lenses and LPL only…

LPL has a significantly different diameter to EF and is diffenrt in many ways apart from flange focal plane. So don’t think I should be happy with EF..

I believe the real difficultly in getting the industry to adopt LPL more is much more down to the fantastic revival of DOPs and Directors shooting film… but Red doesn’t make film cameras or lens so LPL should be a compelling option!

Venice and ARRI camera have LPL with data…

I am assuming interest in stills mounts over a mount the works with some of the best and most interesting glass out there is because Red has lost a bit of interest in the high end … I do accept they may be correct in doing this from a busness pov as high end sales are a little politically tricky.

Forgot about Enso (real new) and Hugo actually.

But yes, in terms of volume Arri Signature Primes are the most "out there" in LPL Mount. There are very few Leitz Elise and Hugo sets in the world, but they are nice. There are vastly less of other things on that list. There's only two sets I would say are very "interesting or advanced" currently in LPL, but that's my humble and extremely tested opinion as I almost purchased both of those.

I agree it would be nice to have an LPL with /i pass through. It's certainly doable.

The note I made regarding EF is mainly due to the flange focal distance, though they were more generous with the ID, which is why the 265 is "happy" with that mount. But it was also happy with PL to a degree.

If we are talking PL versus LPL the adoption rate and number of lenses out there is a wild margin. But it's still new-ish. I'm certain RED can do it at some point. Maybe KipperTie perhaps.

More or less not making the argument against it, I'd like to see it, but I have a wide perspective on things from owners to shops.
