Gauging interest in BRIGHT TANGERINE FOLLOW FOCUS

(Maybe the thread subject should change back from gauging interest to Group buy since it's now officially that? )

Hi Abobakr, we will post another update regarding the Atom in 4 weeks. Cheers, Joe

Thanks Joe for such a fantastic update and relief.. Any update on the Atom?!

I was thinking about the Atom, but in the end, I choosed the single sided regular kit, I think you will be better off with that as well. That way, you don't have to switch the whole FF when switching sides, you just switch the handwheel, additionally buying an extra hand wheel later on. You probably won't get a better deal on the regular FF than this group buy so I'd recommend it :)

Ordered. Thanks for running this!

I just ordered the full 19mm studio kit.... and yes, the discount was 20%.

Thanks to all those involved.

:)

So anyone know when the Atom kits will become available for pre-order?
Also, which swing arm + handwheel combination will give the shortest throw possible on the atom ?
I HATE going beyond a single rotation of a handwheel.

Send an email to them and ask about it. But I think as soon as they've gotten most of the regular FFs out they are gonna move to start shipping the Atom. It should be close.

I forgot...does BT use gears which are interchangeable with ARRI units?
I have an ARRI 64 tooth gear I often use...

I am interested in the Atom as well.

Would the group buy code still work when it is released ?

Is the Atom going to be part of the group buy?

It might have it's own group buy when ready but this time around it's for the regular Revolvr. I would still recommend getting the single sided Revolvr. As long as you don't shoot only by yourself, the single sided would give you the least expensive but best option for a fast workflow. I'm not so keen on changing the entire thing when having matte boxes and lenses and so on, much easier to just switch the hand wheel.

I am looking for some advice here. I am on the list for the Atom, but…
As a wild life filmmaker (Red Dragon + Nikon lenses) I work in the field and or (field)studio. Most of the time I work alone. I transport my gear in a backpack and some separate pouches (+ adapted stroller when possible). So size and weight are important to me, but so is versatility. I will be using the FF in combination with (self-build, deepfocus) macrolenses in a ‘normal’ configuration. But for low angle shots I need the FF to work up side down (above the lens).
What would be the best option? Should I go for the Revolver on the basis of versatility, or should I wait for the Atom? Does anyone know what the dimensions are of the Revolver and the Atom? What about the weight?

Hi you all,
Asked BT a similar question (see former post, #557). For anyone who is looking for similar advice, this is what I got back from BT:

<start Quote>"We do understand your position and have quite a large follower-base of cinematographers that is working in similar conditions. I will try to answer all your questions as best as possible and explain why i think the Revolvr ATOM is the better solution for you.

- Versatility: The Revolvr Atom has the same adaptation possibilities as the Revolvr. The only difference is tat it takes only one handwheel at a time and therefore has to be turned around in case you want to use it on the other side.

Both the Revolvr and the Revolvr Atom are compatible with Arri standard gears, so in case you already have gears you want to use further on, you can do that.

- NIKON lenses: The Revolvr Atom Mini Kit (B2010.0001) comes equipped with the small handwheel and the low 1:1 ratio swing arm. In combination with our reverse gear you can pull focus on your Nikon lenses like you would with any other lens, and the ratio makes for a cinevised overall feel of the whole unit.

- Upside Down: Revolvr and Revolvr Atom both are able to be used upside down if necessary.

I´m afraid i cannot tell you specifics about weight and dimensions at this time. The Revolvr Atom will be smaller and lighter than the Revolvr. In my eyes the Revolvr Atom does not produce any drawbacks for you only advantages.

In case you ever want to convert the Revolvr Atom to a cine ratio, you can always change the handwheel and the Swing Arm to the Revolvr version and have the same ratio as a cine follow focus (1:1,842)." <End quote>

My conclusion: I will be waiting for the Atom.

Looking forward to what the gents buttoned up and have made here. The Revolr has a great deal of potential and I even enjoyed the prototypes. Sounds like things are back on track.
