Hi Nick
I`m missing the discount. Has the discount been detailed yet? The prices on the first post are list prices, correct?
It isn't really fair to compare a wireless product to a 'manual ' product. The Revolvers and the Cine Gears are two different animals. One is completely tactile and manual (meaning it is mounted on the Camera in a manner that necessitates physical/tactile manipulation with a solid, single connection. The other is a device that is essentially divided into three parts (motor, motor driver box hand controller). It's wirelessly controlled. There is a tactile feedback, But it is different, add it's on a hand Controller, and not on the physical camera. In that you don't feel the lens physically move.Any thoughts on how this compares to the cinegears WFF?
So Fury or Curt,
I think someone has already asked the question a couple pages back, and I then I think someone answered, but I'm looking for a more detailed response for what the differences are between the Atom and Studio version- other than size of handwheel. I need to decide before the group buy website goes live, and from what I can see, the Atom hand wheel is only $10 cheaper when purchased a la cart...so what are the other components that make up the $1k price difference (roughly) between the Atom kit and the entry Studio kit...I must be missing something...because the functionality is supposed to be the same between the two.
My other question is why would someone want a larger handwheel...is it all preference?
Rome, Bright Tangerine are breaking new ground in the accessory world. For the first time, a manufacturer is offering their products, of a similar nature, in a multi-tiered platform. Yes, the hand wheels that come with Atom are a bit smaller. The set up in Atom is a bit lighter too. As of a few days ago, Atom will have a 'reverse' gear standard too. The Atom has a different 'gear box' that is more suited for still lenses too. All this being said, if you like larger hand wheels, you want a different gear box ratio, or many other aspects, you can get these things as accessories to the Atom. Essentially, if you purchase an Atom for your needs today, and decide you'd like to 'upgrade', or change your mind to different uses, it's possible through accessories. Bright Tangerine truly have the end user in mind when designing their products. That's how they have converted me, Ketch, Fury, Haslett and so many more to their products. Once you use them, you're hooked.
It would be nice to see a rundown of the differences between the Revolvr and the Atom. From what I can tell, the main difference of the Revolvr is that it can be operated from both sides?
To clear up any confusion:
If you have any other questions, you can contact Rob (rob -at- brighttangerine.com) or Carthik (carthik -at- brighttangerine.com)
- Revolvr is a double-sided unit, and Revolvr Atom is a single-sided unit.
- Both swing arms ("cine" and "1:1") fit both products (Revolvr and Revolvr Atom). To figure out what would suit you best, check out: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showth...E-FOLLOW-FOCUS-INTEREST&p=1415493#post1415493
- Neither product will work without a swing arm. Gotta have at least one.
- Both "large" and "small" handwheels fit both products. Why large and small? Because some people like one and some like the other. The large wheel has around 72mm diameter at the big end, the small wheel around 57mm.
- Revolvr Atom cannot be converted into Revolvr, and Revolvr can't be converted into Revolvr Atom.
- Revolvr Atom has integrated reverse "Nikon" direction (flip the gearbox upside-down, no extra parts required), while Revolvr needs an additional reversing gear to reverse direction. This among other things is why a double-sided unit isn't necessarily "better" than a single-sided one. It all depends on what you're doing.
- Revolvr Atom has an additional slide on the bridge to allow the transmission box to be tweaked fore-and-aft.
- Revolvr and Revolvr Atom use different bridges. With Revolvr, all bridges are snap-on. With Revolvr Atom, the LWS Bridge is snap-on, the studio adapter bridges are not.
(Bright Tangerine has indeed already contacted Reduser regarding sponsorship)
Cheers
