Gauging interest in BRIGHT TANGERINE FOLLOW FOCUS

If they have got Jim Elias on board then I am very interested as well.
That's a whole other level of design sophistication. He does great work.
Curious to see what they come up with.
On the other hand, the issue of product follow through is important.

Rarely are 1st versions of any product perfect. That's normal. I have always maintained that the designer needs stick around at least for version 2.

Case in point: The O'Connor follow focus's (which Elias designed as well) were great but had some issues which could easily have been corrected. The most noticeable one for me was with the PhotoDM. The extended drive gear ratio created a throw which was TOO long. So even with short throw lenses of less than 120 degrees one could end up with several rotations rendering it useless. It would have been easy for them to change this to a less extreme ratio while maintaining it's original purpose. Have they? No. The same for their mattebox, rotating the 1st tray resulted in hitting the rails if one wasn't careful, the knobs were too small and a tray could also drop through. Unfortunately Elias was no longer on board for a version 2 and the O'Connor accessories have become stuck in the mud. They have no commitment to the future for these products and thus the market value for them will decline. Which was a great shame, because they were quite promising.

I have an LFF1 (Elias too). It's great and I love it. However, it really was designed for 19mm or 15mm Studio. For 15mm LW it always sits too close to the lens, thus we are obliged to put it at the outside limit of it's slider adjustment clamp, rendering it less than rock solid. Why not create a longer adjustment clamp for the LW market which continues to grow? Well, because Elias did that as a one off for Arri, and there was no product follow through by the company itself.

In this market where every player now makes a mattebox, FF or rig, I have come to feel that the commitment to the longer term is not only a nice plus, it is what is essential. We have seen BT update the Viv and that is a good sign, let's hope it is the same for their FF and that they will publicly express their commitment to more than a one off for this as well.

Follow through, follow through, follow through.

Interested.

Is there a link for information abut this?

Hi Terry!

Not at this time. The pieces are in prototype phase of development. The estimated price range, FYI, is scheduled to be:

Studio Follow Focus Kit: $2,900-3,200 USD
Light Follow Focus Kit: $1,200-1,600 USD
