Went and watched it last night, totally amazing!

Anyone else see it yet?

Saw it today, the first RED Movie I saw digitally, and it looked really nice. I noticed that in some scenes they used a really fast shutter so that it really felt like your watching a "game".

Regards, Matt

Really surprised at how good it was. I wasn't expecting it to be bad, but I didn't expect the story and cinematography to be at the levels they were at. EXCELLENT JOB!!!
The ending was kinda soft, but the 1st and 2nd act were amazing, the "Society" scenes were badass! The game scenes were good, as a FPS gamer I would have liked it to feel a little more immersive but still it kicked ass. The ext prison scenes were seriously beautiful!

I haven't seen the movie myself, but they panned it in Variety. That's fine, and what they said about is probably all true- but for one thing that kind of offended me: they said it was shot on DV!

Well techincally correct: Digital Video :)
Honestly the biggest reason I liked it so much is becaus I was expecting a lot less. But I definetly see critics hating it, hell there were a groups of people outside the restrooms waiting on people dissig the f--k out of it. I still enjoyed it for the most part and it was really good looking to me.

Not quite. 9mil :(
I think word of mouth was bad on this one, people just didn't like it. It didn't connect, I thought it was good, but I'm also into a lot of the concepts and themes of the movie, Near future, FPS, Sims, Class System, Mind Control, etc...
Like I said I wasn't expecting that much so it surprised me

Saw GAMER today. Film print on an AMC screen. Image was impressive. Very impressive. I assume this was most likely shot on Build 15 as was DISTRICT 9. The GAMER filmmakers used more than one look, depending on where we were in the story -- from desaturated all the way to what I would call standard color saturation. Again, RED proves itself a competitive, studio quality choice for major release feature films. Once again, congrats to Jim and all his troops at RED. Keep on keeping on! Can't wait to see features shot with the later builds.

Can anyone in the know please confirm what build GAMER was shot on?

Looking forwards to seeing it as soon as I can get some baby sitting.

However, I disagree that RED is technically digital video. That's like saying Stephenson's Rocket and a Saturn V are both rockets because they both take you from a to b. It's Digital Cinema, and has practically nothing to do with traditional video technology.

Yeah, considering that "video" generally refers at max to a 2\3'' 3-sensors no-RAW camera, the RedOne ain't digital video.

When I hear video, I think tape! I also don't think RAW.

Used to think "tape" myself - but most of the tapeless cameras I've used, even though some are good, are still quiet video-ish at the end of the day.

That's the "edge enhancement" I think :-)

I distinctly remember remember setting up build 8 on their cameras for prep but don't know if they ended up on build 9 in the end (most likely).

Well you guys know what "DIGITAL" means but I can't believe you don't know what the word "VIDEO" means LOL

It's just a word, relax, you are still better than everyone else who uses the same word :)

Thanks, Deanan. Build 8 or 9. Wow. It translated very, very well to the big screen. Every RED owner and RED fan will be impressed with the image quality of this film.

I really enjoyed the flick. It was insanely fun, over the top, and awesome! I was VERY upset that Zoë Bell's cameo was so short :-( But it was great to see the cast of TBS's Psych in there and a few other cool folks. It was a great movie to just go to and be entertained for an hour and a half. Just like Crank 2 ;-)
