This topic probably has already come up, but I did not find it anywhere.

I would like to start a thread that would allow owners to post their wishes in future builds of the RED 1.

First Suggestions:

1. I use the RED on Jib arms, and use a photo cell pickup on the tally indicator to see that the camera is rolling. Because the Tally light is always on and only changes color when it is rolling, these pickups can't be used. There should be a way to turn off the Tally and only have it glow Red when the camera is rolling.

2. I would love to have a remotely controlled way to change the frame rate on the fly, like you can do on a film camera. This would be a wired controller with a frame rate read out on it. It would have a knob on it that you could rotate to increase or decrease frame rate while the Red was recording.

What do you think Jim? These two requests couldn't be too difficult to incorporate. After all look what you guys created in such a short amount of time.

Thanks,

Shane

Hi there Shane,

A couple solutions may present themselves already:

The RED One's power/GPIO jacks provide a means to remotely start/stop the camera complete with tally light. Check out this thread:

There is a big brainstorm in another thread on how to best utilize the USB port for various camera operations and status checks including speed ramps. (I need to find that thread.)

Best,

Michael

I do need to get a remote start stop for my Red, but what I was asking for was a way to turn off the white stand by tally, and only have it turn on when the camera was recording. This is the only way a photo sensitive switch will work.

I would like to see right angled cable for the Power and for the Hard Drive that do not cover up any other connection ports on the back of the camera! The battery needs to be so far back away from the camera right now it makes the camera back heavy!
