#1: MTV's zombie-comedy DEATH VALLEY.

In a recent episode the police gets called to a house attacked by zombies. Turns out the house is used for a porn shoot. As the news crew following the police enters the room where all the porn film crew is hiding, the porn director asks the news cameraman, "Hey, what do you guys shoot on?" and the cameraman replies, "The RED. Why, what do you guys use?". The director looks baffled and says, "I've no idea. I'm more about the f***ing."

And, of course, when the news cameraman is shown, you can easily tell he's not using a RED camera.

#2: TACTICAL FORCE (2011), starring Steve Austin.

This is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. Anyhoo, it was shot on RED - and one of the characters (a female) is called... JANNARD. A coincidence? What do you think? ;)

#3: THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN - Behind the Scenes footage

A French website published a series of BTS clips of Tintin's motion capture sessions. Daniel Craig is seen chatting with the crew - one of whom is wearing a RED t-shirt.

The funniest thing i've seen... and I wish I remembered which film it was..

It was one of these crappy Anaconda V Crocosaurus type films... and at the end, an army guy went to blow up one of the creatures.... he had a bomb remote in his hand... but I noticed the distinct RED logo on the bomb remote! It was a RED drive... talk about a cheap set design

I saw a RED drive in some TV show a while back; it was used to deliver valuable stolen data to some shady-looking person. I guess the prop department dropped the ball and they had to improvise during the shoot :)

No, Red makes bomb remotes too. They look just like the Red drive.

Either that or a stroke of minor genius because at the end of the day its a drive, but it does look badass. Who outside the film community—scratch that camera department even—would know they are designed for a specific camera in mind.

I keep seeing my 3DConnexion's Space Pilot Pro being used in various sci-fi stuff—and I can understand why—but it does bring me right out of the film. When I was with the BBC we used to use a hell of a lot of old analogue mixers and video switchers as part of the set. They have great switches and and lots of flashing lights. hehehehehe :)

If it aired on the SyFy channel, I have probably used that RED Drive. Hahahahaha. In fact, it could be the one in my avatar. Funny.

1. I was at the GLEE LIVE concert at the Honda Center in late May. I couldn't help but look at what cameras they were using. I looked over and saw the EPIC in the wild. I was more excited that he used EPIC because if I recall correctly, it was prototype. I had seen photos of EPIC, but to see one in real life at the time made me more excited about the camera than the concert.

2. I was shooting an event, and a person came up to me saying he had seen my work and loved it. He wanted to build his network and tells me:

HIM: My video production company shoots on all the cameras. Sony's, 5DMII, RED Epic and RED Scarlet.
ME: Wow! You guys have a RED Scarlet?
HIM: Yeah. It's awesome.
ME: Really?
HIM: Yeah.
ME: That's funny that you have a RED Scarlet, because, you know.....they aren't even out yet.
HIM: Umm....well...yeah...that's right. We...um...get the prototypes. We beta test them.
ME: *Smiles* thinking to myself....this guy is such a liar. I better not ask him what the specs are for the Scarlet because that would embarrass him in front of his friends.

It's questionable but plausible given your location.

There is definitely a possible chance he was testing a SCARLET, but bragging about beta testing a SCARLET is probably a big NO NO from Jim and Co. The biggest evidence was when his camera crew started shooting with their VIXIA HF G10 as a main camera, that's when you know they probably aren't beta testing any Scarlets. :)

An old Reno 911 episode from almost four years ago had a RED ONE as a prop if I remember correctly. I remember it cause we talked about it here on the forum. It was an episode spoofing Dog The Bounty Hunter.
