Full Spectrum OLPF

Hi RED fam,
short question.

Can anybody tell me if using a Full Spectrum OLPF on a camera without any aditional filters (UV, ND Hot Mirror etc) can damage the camera sensor if shot let's say directly into a powerful light source?

cannot find any info about that.

as long as you are not shooting lasers directly at it i think you should be ok. I believe The olpf's are primarily designed to help reduce moire and in some cases IR pollution if an ir filter isn't already added directly on to the sensor.

Hello. Info-man here.

All cameras are susceptible to damage with or without their OLPF if there's prolonged exposure to super bright sources (think of letting the camera sit in the sun with the lens cap off for a few hours with no ND). Particularly with longer lenses.

Generally you should be fine. As Davindra mentioned. Lasers pointed into the lens = bad news. Lasers in general are scary and can destroy planets based on my cinematic research
