  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Fujinon 19-90 T2.9 S35 Cine/ENG lens...

In case anybody is getting lens creep from the servos on the cabrio, I talked to Mitch @ Abelcine and he told me the lens needs power for the servos in order to ignore the signals from the camera that are causing the problem. Abel is making me a cable for this purpose.
As an added bonus for those with the Pro IO. record trigger will work via lemo as well. Non pro io folks need to do p=tap most likely and a separate or y to the trigger since trigger needs power.

Ordered a power cable. Red doesn't power it. Simple as that. Sony does.

I'm working on getting a Y cable made for Red Epic. Powers the zoom AND allows the start/stop function. That would really do everything.

What is the cable? Where do you find it? Is it a custom cable? I've been having a hell of a time finding these. ZGC doesnt carry it, and its not an accessory from Fujinon.

Waiting for a rental house to get back to me, but for what it's worth... I have a client looking to use the Cabrio with a FIZ preston, and I have seen this done at Cine-gear, but I can't remember how it was connected. Is it a special cable I need to buy? This zoom is so cool, but it's also a bit of a growing pain, as I'm still discovering everything I can do with it, and also everything I NEED that is extra to do those things! hahaha

So tell me.... I'm hoping it's not that $400 cable I posted above!

on other news, confirmed that the cabrio does get power from cameras with LDS connection. zoom rocker works great. preston control is a little iffy, haven't personally seen it in action. i'm told the connection to the cabrio motors are 100% digital while a preston is half analog and might not work. will probably confirm whether this is true or not soon, but if anybody else can chime in...

Fuji makes a digital controller that works well, from what I've heard. It's the one they recommend in the manual. They also are working on making the Microforce work better with the lens. Hoping that comes soon!

here is the fujinon zoom controller, I think. If this is not the exact one, it's close. Consult the manual with the lens for the exact one. I don't have it with me.

I guarantee it is Ryan........ ;)

Ugh... what is more annoying than the price is the scarce availability. Need one now... :( Guess I'll remove the servo grip and mount motors like a normal dude.

The Optitron is fully digital.
It should work- I'm getting the info from Fuji ;)

We have the lense on Arrested Development.... The Red mount does not correctly power the lens. So we got power cales from Fuji. We are using it handheld as ENG type operation.

The lens is very sharp since we have it side by side with Angenieux 28-76.

We are pretty impressed.

sharp but in a non medical way..

i love these lenses

Will it be possible to power the lens with the red pl mount? Is that a firmware thing or a hardware impossibility?

I believe it gets powered from Sony's LDS or I-pins. Or both. Red powers the Canon and Nikon lenses from camera- I don't see why they couldn't do the Cabrio....

Same question here -- I've heard yes and no from different people.

RED???
