Hi everyone,

Here is a short demo reel we put together last week. Justin Kirchhoff was gracious enough to let us host the source R3D files on his FTP server, for a limited time.

The FTP link for the 930MB .zip file is:
http://www.digitalshakedown.com/reduser/EPIC-300fps-2K.zip

The ZIP file contains (7) EPIC 300fps 2K Raw R3D files and the Adobe Premiere file for those of you that would like to grade or edit your own version. All we ask is that you give us credit for any usage.

Here is a standard definition SD video on Vimeo. It doesn't do the footage justice but it's something to watch quickly. The detail in the R3Ds is truly incredible especially in the dust swirling. Get the raw files while you can.

All shot with RED EPIC and RED 17-50 Lens. Mix of indoor and outdoor.

*special recognition goes out to Chad Westover (who works for us) for his assistance on this demo project.

wow awesome, many thanks for making this available! downloading now hehe:-)

I'm glad to see people so excited to get their hands on these files! You might want to hold off on the download though.

We've been having problems getting such a large file uploaded, without interruption, to the FTP and it looks like the .ZIP file containing all these R3Ds is corrupted and won't open. Give me a little more time to try the upload one more time, most likely as individual files rather than one huge .ZIP this time.

In the meantime, you can actually download the full 2K resolution .mp4 (106MB) instead of watching it in SD on vimeo.

click here then right-click (ctrl-click) and choose "save video"

It looks soooo much better in 2K!! :smile5:

Damn guys, the detail in these images is amazing. I really can't believe how sharp these are knowing its a cropped sensor.

FTP Links Updated. Get the R3D's while you can. See First Post of this Thread.

Nice footage. What is the crop factor on Epic 2K 300fps. Is it still 6x like on RED ONE? So this would make your 17-50 equivalent to 102-300mm? Is this correct?

Thanks.

I'm actually not sure on your question Elliot. Hopefully someone else is reading and knows for certain.

great! second download worked:-) all 7 looks great, many thanks again for sharing:-P
and as far as i understand it, the recording area 2k on epic is the same size as 2k on Red One. which i believe is roughly the size of shooting 16mm?
not too keen on refering to "crop factor" anymore since it all depends on which base you are refering to. Most people i talk to refer to 35mm film, but this being cinema should refer to S35. Now epic has upped the size a bit so generally staying away from crop factor might be the way to go hehe. But thats just me:-P

I'm very glad and grateful that Epic RAW footage is being made available. And even 300 fps footage. Thank you very much!
