For Sale - Bergen Turbine Observer powered by a JetCat SPH5 Turbine engine, capable of carrying a RED Epic or RED Scarlet and of course any smaller cameras.

Depending on load (easily handles up to 25lbs), the flight time is nearly 40 minutes. Compare that with 8 minute flight times of the various electric multi-rotors. Speeds can reach nearly 70MPH.

3 axis mount includes a PicLoc 3x Pro for gyro stabilized gimbal. Upgradeable to brush-less system.

It is equipped with the DJI Ace One GPS flight system. This is an autopilot system that greatly enhances the ease of flight.

Helicopter comes with a custom built flight case and comes ready to bind to your radio and fly. Case dimesnions: 69in x 29in x 19in

Original owner had over $15k in this heli and he only flew it a handful of times. I bought it and have never even tried to fly it.

I am selling the whole package for $10k plus shipping. Free shipping in the Midwest and parts of the East Coast.

This is a very PRO machine which is why I am selling it. It is simply out of my league. My excitement overruled my better judgement.

Feel free to call me to discuss: 317-459-9179

Previous owner is a Red User named Jay Cline. You can see his original listing . And yes, I borrowed some of his text for my listing since nothing has changed.

These new photos I took. For a sense of scale, the helicopter is sitting on a 8' x 4' sheet of whiteboard.

The Epic with side handle fits in the 3-axis mount.

When the blades are extended, this measures nearly 8 feet.

Andy, why are you selling?
I saw this when it was first offered, and it seemed like an excellent deal at $4000.

How big is the flight case ?
The Naza flight controller does not do GPS waypoints to allow grid flights, am I correct ?
Is the Gimbal RC servo based off the Naza, or a modern brushless one ?
I am interested in the long flight times.

I'm selling because I was excited about aerial imaging like everyone else but I have never flown an RC anything in my life. I thought MAYBE with a year of practice with simulators and smaller craft that I could learn how to fly it. So I bought it and within a month had buyers regret. It has stayed in its flight case unused.

But with all due respect, this is no mere model RC or Octocopter. This is a serious flying machine that cost over $15K. I really cannot sell below $10K, which has been the price.

Les, the long flight times was the attractive feature to me too.
The case is in inches: 69 x 29 x 19
This has the DJI Ace One, not the Naza and is a single waypoint system. The multi-waypoint version is an available upgrade. See DJI link above.
You can find out more about the gimbal from the link above as well. It is not associated with DJI at all.
The helicopter can carry up to 25lbs with ease. Again, this is industrial quality and grade.

I seem to recall it being sold at $4000.
I'm not saying it's not worth a whole lot more, but is that correct?

Not correct. Not this package. The original owner sold the package to me for $10,500 back in Dec 12. The auto-pilot DJI portion of the package alone sells for around $3,200.I paid over $800 in shipping. I'm losing nearly $1,500 without even adding a minute of flight time or wear to the machine. And I'm including shipping to most places reachable in a day from the Midwest.

Yessir.
It's a hell of a deal, even at 10K.
I just started flying recently on a DJI Phantom. Just took the plunge for a Turbo Ace X830-D, but I think it'll be a few years until I'm qualified to fly something like this.
Fatalities are very possible, even with the requisite skill!

Are you trying to scare my potential buyers? :willy_nilly: But you are right, it is a serious tool that really needs to be treated with extreme caution. But in the right hands, you can get some phenomenal footage that would easily pay for itself. If I'm not able to sell it, I'd probably just hire an experienced helicopter pilot and I would control the camera.

Sorry, certainly not trying to scare anyone. I know plenty of folks with more money than sense.
Anyone that wants to buy this hopefully has years of experience, or at least the right mind to hire a pilot!
This thing could pay for itself in a month... Good luck!

Is it gas or nitro?
Neither. It is a turbine engine which requires jet fuel... same as full size engines, kerosine with a small amount of oil mixed, around 5%. And they sound just like the real thing because they are the real thing, just smaller.

:smash: SOLD!

We have reached an agreement with Andy and we are purchasing this ship.
We look forward to be the ONLY service of this kind here in Japan and other East-Asian countries.
It did not take long to find few local RC pilots more then capable flying this "monster" - and as I have done on so many aerial shoots before - I will leave the flying of the ship to the professionals. I will focus on flying the camera... ;o)

Once the ship arrives here in Japan and we put the whole package together (including a proper demo) - I will start a new thread dedicated to this.
My automotive clients are going to love this...
