thanks so much for the link explaining the policy to me. My real name has been on my sig since 2006, you just need to be able to read. I've sold about $50K worth of stuff here over the years and have never had any sort of issue or dissatisfaction. I'm curious, what does jumping rock sound like ? makes me feel uncomfortable.

Newer in the sense that my card is only about 6 months old and hasen't been used much. I imagine the battle tested ones have been around much longer and have had more intense use. When you figure shipping, tax, etc. my card is actually about $400 bucks less.

Pol Boy is one of the ORU's (original RedUsers) and is 100% legit, we've bought or sold stuff to or from him over the years.

If I'm not mistaken anyone with a join date in 2006 is authorized to use lethal force on behalf of Red :)
 
The real name policy is kinda funny. A lot of the original reduser membership has requested the change, and some have not. As long as your real name is in your sig, you're fine until an admin gets around to doing it. Sometimes that takes a while... us moderators can't make the change. Poi Boy (Alex) has been here since the beginning and he's complied with the rules.

As a moderator, I really wish people wouldn't try to be the real-name police. If someone has an issue with forum names, use that little REPORT button on the lower left hand corner of the post you have an issue with and us moderators will look into it. I would say that 70% of the time people make a stink publicly over someone's name, the accuser is usually in error.

Also one should be mindful that while this is a "real names" forum, there is no name validation or verification process. I buy and sell enough stuff on these forums where I've encountered several people who don't use their actual real name.
 
Interesting. Does anyone know if the "newer" cards are better than the older ones? ie. Have there been any upgrades in performance over the years? We have one we still use that we bought in 2010. We need another and don't mind buying used but I was curious about if the newer ones would outperform the older. Anyone care to comment?

I believe there is only one model with zero upgrades since inception.
 
Correct, only one model of Rocket. The original ones off the line had a green PCB, they moved to red PCB's when production ramped up.
 
True, there has only been one model. My point is that most likely, the battle tested cards have been around much longer than mine and have had much more use than mine. Think, one and a half or two year old mac book pro vs 6 month old mac book pro. They will test out the same but life span is a different story. At more or less a $400 savings for my card versus a battle tested card...draw your own conclusion.

I had heard that although no performance difference, there was a newer version with no separate power connector, only direct bus power. I've not seen the difference only was told.....That being said, if the card is the later version lets work a deal. Please contact me at stevegreen123@gmail.com
