  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A very rare set of 8 lenses from Leica, housed by Van Diemen, and recently serviced.

I purchased these from a very reputable and amazing seller early this year, and unfortunately find myself in a position where I have to sell them.
I've had a reasonable cash offer sitting on my desk for awhile, and the buyer elected to purchase the very expensive new leica summilux-c glass instead.
Partially because I was dragging my feet, and not at all because of the quality or condition of this glass.
The foot dragging cannot continue.

The lenses:

are roughly same size and weight as super speeds.
cover full frame
have 80mm fronts
are in excellent + condition, housed in separate cases (4 in one case, others in their own separate cases)
were all hand picked from the Leitz factory
are one set of six that was made for VFG, to very exacting specifications

15mm F3.5 Super Elmarit T3.7
19mm F2.8 Elmarit T3.0
21mm F4.0 Elmarit T4.5
24mm F2.8 Elmarit T3.0
28mm F2.8 Elmarit T3.0

Offers and serious buyers only please. I don't mean to sound prickly, but I'm a fulltime parent and don't have a great deal of time to spare.
This is a very rare opportunity to pick up a set of full frame glass prior to the wide release of Epic X and the later release of FF Epic, for less than half of the cost of the summilux series.

This set of lenses are indeed one set from the 6 sets made for VFG, they are all 80mm front dia. which was not the case with other lenses built by VDF. They have a VFG Lozenge engraved upon them.
They were made for commercial work in the UK to be used by DoP who know that the contrast seperation and the crispness of the pictures are unbeatable compared with any other lenses of the day. They are superb and I wish I was selling them.
How do I know about them? I was the CEO that commissioned and signed the purchase order originally. These are the buy of a lifetime for somebody who knows.

So what are you asking for the set? Or should I say, what was the offer that you had, but didn't finish?
 
These lenses are awesome, believe me, i know......and Anthony is a completely stand up guy, you will not have any problems buying from him. Someone should buy these, they cover FF completely, non of this just covering with a bit of fall off malarky, they cover completely and are pin sharp edge to edge. They are a very future-proof set of optics.

My apologies in not responding to peoples emails and pms sooner. I've been away.
Also wanted to say thanks, especially to the amazingly patient and generous Mr. Robert Horwell, for the kind words and contributions on these amazing lenses.
I'm not listing a price on this very expensive set of glass publicly.
 
This set is now seriously for sale and I'm taking offers. Some part trades considered.
 
I have to say that splitting them up will ultimately lead to less money as guys will pick and choose. A set like this is so rare they should go very quickly to those who know!
Only those who understand the quality difference will understand the price. The pictures are amazing providing your camera has a correct focul depth. So many I see are off by as much

No; they cannot be cracked open as you ask! They are all hand selected glass and hand built with Focus scroll machined to match each lens.
They are not just rebarrelled stills lenses and I am having trouble with the thinking behind your Q.
Leica who selected the glass for the building of these lenses, were at the time of building very interested in this project for the 6 sets that were made.

Update. Asking price is 55 thousand U.S. for the full set. A fraction of what new cinema summilux leica set (albeit faster glass) costs
 
Pardon my boundless ignorance, but how much does a set of these usually go for?
