H4VUser is dead so this is the best place to ask.

So, I have a desktop app called StereoPhoto Maker Pro. It's great for making stereo GIFs from files from arbitrary cameras. But, I cannot find anything that's H4V compatible. Worse, when I save an H4V file to a Micro SD card, for portability, only the Hydrogen can read it as a stereo file. Nothing else can extract the stereo data. Finally, I cannot find a way to actually create files that are viewable on the Hydrogen.

I have a mobile app, 3DSteroid, but that has fewer features than StereoPhoto Maker.

Any tips?

I think you can just give em new file endings .mov or .mp4 instead of .h4v and then its a normal QuickTime with left / right eye next to each other.

The H4V pictures aren't SBS stereo pictures, changing the extension won't help here. But the better place to ask and discuss this is https://forums.leialoft.com/
Even though that's also no longer about the Hydrogen, at least the conversion and file format questions are still the same there for the Lume Pad and its apps.

Well, hot diggity. Björn, you are kind of right. You can just change the filename and get the image to show properly on a Hydrogen. The problem is that the image is squeezed vertically when you view the image in landscape mode. The solution could be to simply use portrait mode only, and possibly just shoot square. Cropping with Red Player also helps.

Alex, thank you. I have joined that forum and I've already found some useful info. Thank you all. Here is one primitive attempt. What's interesting is that you have to be super duper careful with alignment. Base length is flexible but you must keep the image planes 100% true.

I'm going to keep playing around. I am getting the feeling that stereo photography is very useful and under appreciated. I wouldn't watch a 3D narrative feature film but I would watch a 3D documentary. I like the immersive nature of it. I would love to have a go at making a 3D movie.
