  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Because I think it is not interesting to buy 2/3 Scarlet (2500 for the brain)
+ about 8000 for accessories and + 19000 for the lenses in total sum about 29 000 USD for the sensor 10.1 mm 5.25 mm. I think everybody on this site is waiting for Scarlet with more big sensor then 10.1 mm 5.25 mm I think everybody is waiting for S35 or for the 2/3 Scarlet but only Complete Kit because of price 3750... but I think nobody wants 2/3 Scarlet (10.1 mm 5.25 mm) for the about 29 000....As for me I will buy of course S35 but if the S35 is not expecting in the nearest future and we will see only 2/3 Scarlet in the begining 2010 and we will know that we will see S35 at the end of 2010 of course in this case I will buy 2/3 Scarlet in the begining of 2010 but only Complete Kit not 2/3 (2500 for brain) for 29 000...but may be for Red Team risky to release Complete Kit because in this case nobody will buy 2/3 Scarlet (2500 for the brain and 29 000 in total sum) and everybody will buy Complete Kit so that is why Red Team will release the 2/3 Scarlet (2500 for the brain) and will not realese Complete Kit. Tell me please am I wrong?

It is very important thing for me. Because I realy need Scarlet S35 but if we will see S35 only at the end of 2010 I can buy Complete Kit as compromise for not big money untill S35 will be released.
 
I most likely decided to buy 2/3 Scarlet instead of fixed lens for myself and buy RED ONE for my company.

I'm going to use some Super16mm lenses and B4 mount Canon broadcast zoom lens. That makes more affordable and compact comparing to RED ONE, no camera would be that small, flexible and powerful.

How much is Super16mm lenses and B4 mount Canon broadcast zoom lens?

May be is there way to get 2/3 camera not for 29 000 but for 10-15000?

The B4 lens was given to me free. The Super 16mm lenses seems to be around 300 dollars each.

I have 13k that by selling my HPX500 set. So, covers all.

Do you think is it possible to shot movie with 2/3 Scarlet with such cheap lenses? I have about 10-15000 too. And I understand I can't buy with this budget lenses for 19 000.
 
Hey guys, calm down on the pricing speculations...(why in the world would you buy a set of RPPs for the 2/3 Scarlet. They are making RmPs (Red Mini Primes) which I doubt will cost 19000.)

I haven't listened to Ted commentary but if the S35 is going to be late 2010 that's will suck big time. Screw the 2/3 Scarlet...yes, that will be good for small independent films and Soccer moms. I was really hoping that the S35 will come out Oct/Nov so I can use it than the R1. I shot feature and series of commercials with the R1 and the biggest thing I hate with it is the darn cables. What is this a video camera? I love what RED is doing with no cables like Scarlet and Epic - modular design. Brilliant. Just add components.

Don't worry about RPR just get the Nikon mount and use the Zeiss ZF lenses...they are excellent. Ask anyone here. Spend 5k on those you'll be fine.

Please don't say this is true...No, S35 before x-mas 2009. I'll be crushed and I thought their was a 'Red" Santa here!!! ha ha...!!!
 
Don't get too excited about the cables... we have yet to see a finalized design or even any word on cabling. You might not need cables to connect your modules, but all that gets you to is the body of the R1 (brain, audio, menu control, etc.) You're more than likely still going to need cables for LCDs, possibly VFs, existing red bricks, etc.

Don't mean to burst your bubble but there's a heck of a lot more to be excited about, as I'm sure you already know.

I've been waiting for Scarlet (like we all) so long and I became more practical and critical about release date. What we have: I see Red Team is harry up but Ted told that we can see in November only "first look" so I think from "first look" to be offered for sale needs at least a few month so it is February or Murch and in April we have NAB 2010 so it is good time for good promotion and start sales. I would be happy to be wrong:drool5:

okay, listened to it myself.

My interpretation from his words are that we'll see working prototypes at the end of November, based on his words of seeing "first look" "around our Thanksgiving time".

Then I think he's saying we'll be looking at the Monstro cameras in about a year.
 
I'm just praying S35 isn't going to be very long, since it isn't using the Monstro sensor.
