  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Formatt -Hitech Firecrest launch - Pinewood studios London

Bob,

Awesome! I ordered a 0.9, 1.2 and I can't figure out if I should get a 1.5 or 0.6...I have the Xenon's so they're already a little slow at T2.1 so I planned on holding off on the 0.3. I just need to figure out if I want a 1.5 or a 0.6 in my kit...my thinking was that I can grab a regular 0.6 ND and get the good 1.5 IRND since it has the IR protection...but that's a dark piece of glass and I'm thinking I can stop the camera down one stop without losing too much bokeh and just use my 1.2 filter. On the other hand, it would be good to have a set of the same filters in sequential order (either a 0.6, 0.9, 1.2 or 0.9, 1.2, 1.5).

Im in glad you like them! And I'm open to your thoughts...thanks again for your post and I can't wait to get my filters!

Hi guys,

I've not been able to check the boards so often recently.

if you do want a discount code for Firecrest (or any other Formatt-Hitech filter) please PM me.

Will, have you had your filters yet? What do you think ;) ?

Owen,

Much appreciated! I ended up going for a more "complete" kit. I got the 0.9 and 1.2, but also ordered the 0.6 and 1.5. They look beautiful! Can't wait for a sunny day to take the puppies out for a good test run.

Quick question for any Formatt users...

I have the MX sensor, so I still need a clear hot mirror for when I'm inside (maybe shooting with tungsten lighting)...since I have firecrest IRND's, would you recommend shooting with a Formatt-hitech hot mirror or would it be ok to shoot with a Tiffen hot mirror...I guess, what I'm asking is would it be ok to "mix and match" the brands, even though I know they will never be used together (i.e. no stacking) I just want to make sure they "blend" well and theirs not any special issues when it comes to the different coatings used by Tiffen and Formatt's plain hot mirrors that might not let them play nice together.

Thanks for any feedback/advice.
