  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Forged 6k Weapon and Carbon 6k Weapon Shipping Update

I think your correct with what Brent said with best intentions in that parralel lines are setup up between new and upgraded camera's. Parralel production lines though doesn't mean there are no dependancies between queues, where the lines cross over a bit on critical resources (be that people just to manage things, forged casing, brains, side components, etc ...). As a new RED owner I'd count myself lucky if I got the camera within 6 months( i've always had to wait between 9 months to almost two years for a new camera).

Wow, almost two years? For what camera did you have to wait so long?
I hope it will not be the same for the Weapon. Jarred said a month ago that they were trying to get through all of the 6K Carbon Weapon upgrades by the end of December then jump right into the Mg. I don't think many people will have their Weapon before January...

I was on the original order of the Scarlet, I think i had like a low 200 number, and was also in the origanal nab orders of the dragon. I think the guys on the REDONE original order, probably took over 2 years ? RED is the first time i've purchased a full cinema camera, but what I've noticed generally in the film industry is that the higher end cinema equipment really never goes to general availability, since the runs are not huge what seems to happen is either the manufacturer has a stock after the initial wait which is long, since so few units have sold, or the stock is so limited that it's only for rental such as the 70mm gear.
 
WPN-F #140 made it to my homebase, stoked!
This was a new (pack) order, not an upgrade.

I believe they are doing what they did when the CF epic was introduced during the epic dragon upgrade, where if you order it you would would jump the line of upgrades. Which is understandable for the price they are paying. So it makes sense as Forged takes the CF epic's place in terms of shipping and place in line.

I call it "the Fast Track price".
I believe what you say is correct as I am still waiting for my two NAB Woven upgrades, but just got my new Forged ordered some 5 months after NAB.
