  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Forged 6k Weapon and Carbon 6k Weapon Shipping Update

Thanks Stacey, good to hear you got yours. Rad yours shipped 6 days after clearing inspection! I'm 17 days since clearing inspection and still waiting... Jay is my rep too but he doesn't seem to have any answers. Hopefully it'll ship soon; I have 5 days of shooting coming up and my clients are expecting to shoot on Weapon...

Did you get the standard 7" or the dsmc2 7"?

He got a super special 7" that's not on the menu.

17 Days for a Forged Order?? Any updates from RED as we get closer to the Holidays?

DSMC2 style. I previously owned the standard 7" as well. I really like not having an LCD cable. All depends on your shooting style. For some the placement of the LCD on the top is not ideal. I am in the its a perfect place to mount your LCD camp. In a gimbal scenario, I might want it elsewhere and I am looking at the SmallHD 501 for that situation.
 
Anyone with a epic X got a allocation notice?

Don't get it, I was thinking the queue was ONLY based on the order stamp.
 
Yeah X or M don't matter - it's just in order of date/time. I think some of us who are early in the 8K queue but late enough in the Weapon upgrade queue may be stuck in limbo at the moment so RED doesn't ship us a camera and then have us send it right back for the 8K upgrade. Just a theory, but makes sense to me... I think...

I hope you are right about them not shipping if you are early in the 8k queue. I'd much rather just send it in once.

that'd be great, but i think the first 8K batch is much smaller than many of us are hoping for.

The 8k train is a slow moving one.. you have very little to worry about that kind of stack-up happening.

I believe Ms go first then they go back and go though all the Xs

Jarred, I guess the question burning on everyones mind, is there any chance any of us individuals who ordered in the very early morning of NAB seeing a 8K under the tree for Christmas or they all going out to the Panavisions and Peter Jacksons of the world?

If you don't already know, I wouldn't be waiting by the chimney. We aren't going down the list cherry picking favorites for the 8k, but we are supporting one big show like we always do when we have a new camera.
 
Jarred but the Dragon Carbon Fiber , not have priority over the Dragon M or X for upgrade to Woven?
as the list of Phil?
Or the priority to be the time stamp?

Upgrade Order Fullfilment

Serial Number is not a factor in the Weapon upgrade. Fulfillment will be based on the camera type you are trading in, meaning this priority:

1. Carbon Dragon
2. Epic-M Dragon
3. Epic-X Dragon
4. Scarlet Dragon

Aha, Thanks for the update! I am personally very excited to see what films are shot with these amazing new cameras. The more features shot with RED, the better for all of us.
 
I'm considering Forged CF over the current choice of Woven CF. Would this switch up effect me in any way?
