  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Got a message from bomb squad today, completely stopped everything ... but was my bomb squad rep changing. I guess they are readying the gates for the epic dragon horde, would be cool to see some behind the scene shots of what is going on. I was emotionally balanced on waiting, after todays email I may need to go into rehab so I don't check my mail every 5 minutes ;)

Yea i think the marketplace will help show us the way by allocation time. I like the idea of vista I just hope it's a rental hit but not sure cuz of the glass implications when going above s35. I'm into the concept I just hope clients are too but even if red cleared up what's mid level options or if MG is all there is that would be helpful since scarlet dragon guys and epic guys who can't afford weapon are still wondering what the future holds

Almost all anamorphic lenses (even real old ones) will use the extra height on the 8k sensor (atleast to the 18mm). Right now if you want to shoot anamorphic the same as film your kind of forced to rent the alexa plus 4:3 option to get the same anamorphic crop, so I don't see shooting VV as a limiter to wanting the 8k sensor. Personally this is why I'm getting the 8k sensor (i.e. my trade was between the alexa plus 4:3 vs the VV 8k, aside from getting my 4:3 height I will be getting awesome clean clean plates from the 8k).

I believe it will be an uphill battle for the rental world, a lot of DPs what their glass, and that's what comes first for a lot of them. On the other hand, its great for Anamorphic, so it will be interesting. I however, am very excited for this format.

Speak for yourself. I only care about the new Weapon CF lead time ;-)

Come on Red Users! We know the first new Weapon CF shipped 10+ days ago. Has the second shipped? The 10th? How fast is that queue moving?

We always talk about the upgrades but what about the new customers? Is Red sending the upgrades and the new cameras at the same time?

Only two CF have been delivered in 10 days?
 
I'm sure there's more but there on major films with NDAs
