  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Forged 6k Weapon and Carbon 6k Weapon Shipping Update

According to Jarred, IF one places an order for a a Forged upgrade today than he or she is a month out. ...but where are you in the line if you placed your order for a FORGED upgrade over two months ago? ...a day out? ...a week out? ...3 weeks out? My bs rep won't tell me. ...AND if RED won't tell me, then why not ask my fellow forum members to take a guess? ;)

if it's any consolation I'm getting the same info from my BS as I find it hard to believe that there isn't some ballpark idea of howmany Forged are scheduled or sold at this time.
seems there should be more feedback if there were more Forged on the street.

There is a queue and RED is chewing through it. Remember that upgrading and purchasing new are two different processes. When sending in your camera for the upgrade it needs to get inspected thoroughly. That process requires additional time. Which is why it's a bit different than just ordering a new Forged Weapon and having it built. It's essentially two different "lanes". And you don't want just everybody to send in their camera to upgrade all at once or it would be a madhouse and somebody would like drown under a pile of cameras.

If you are looking for an educated guess, based on Jarred's previous comments of Woven Carbon Weapons beginning in October I'd say sometime between now and then. It's hard to make a hard guess on these things because there's variables outside of RED's control when handling upgrades in particular.

I'm patiently waiting as well, but there's people working hard pushing these beasts out. I think everybody was a bit surprised that so many people opted for the rather sneaky, but very cool Forged option. And it sounds like there's a slew of Woven Carbon Weapons on order as well.

The very, very good news is RED truly started upgrades on time after NAB. This is the first time I can recall that it's gone so smoothly in that regard.

There's a few I know of that went right to work, which is the biggest reason you aren't hearing much, or more accurately seeing much here on REDuser. Need to remember there's a whole other world of shooters out there who don't regularly visit here or do any sort of social media/networking. That's unfortunate for us, but privacy is a big deal for a lot of folks in this industry.

I do my best to have a small week or two "honeymoon" with a new camera to feel it out before I jump into the mud with it. Mostly to test it thoroughly and make sure I can't break it.

I'll be chatty about it whenever my number gets called for sure. I'm as curious as anybody about Weapon.
 
Just wanna put this out there: If anybody wants to give up their spot in the 8k upgrade line can I take it? I'd gladly go to the back of the queue. (Not sure why anybody would back out of that steal-of-a-deal, but a guy can dream...)

Not sure if RED would O.K. a swap between parties. Probably a moot question anyway. '-)

Ahead of schedule. Red is evolving in a positive way. Maybe in a not to distant future we will hear them say "today we announce the Red _______, and here is a whole stack of them ready for immediate purchase and delivery"

BEST POST OF THE SUMMER/FALL/WINTER. I am one very excited customer. Counting the (unknown) days until I receive my CF Weapon. I've had the fun of spending 6 says with a Forged Weapon and although similar to the Epic, it has so many improvements that make it effortless to use. I really cannot imagine how you could make that camera any better. I've long been a fan of the Epic, but there were always very small things that I wished were "tweaked". Everything I could have suggested has already been done (and a lot more) to make the Weapon the best camera in the world. You guys are brilliant. Now let's talk about a cage for it... ;)Thanks Jarred, Jim, Brent and everyone at Red. I cannot tell you how much my life has changed for the better since becoming a red owner and I know it's still just the beginning.

This is how it should be! I don't know who started the delayed shipping trend but it's getting old. Sure they want to steal other manufacturer's releases, but if they would have these ready to ship at announcement, they would get way more sales just from impulse buys.

Does this mean that they're going to start calling epics in for upgrades as well?
