  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi all,

we've decided to sell our Red 18-85 T2.9 PRO zoom lens in order to finance some other more needed equipment.

This is serial number #00032 and it has been extremely well looked after for its short life. The glass is perfect (more photos to come tomorrow) and the mechanics fluid and precise. Imperial markings (feet).

There are a couple of cosmetic scuffs around the front lens barrel where the matte box has been slid over it and the gear teeth shine a bit where the follow focus gears have meshed. In other words, own the lens for a week and every one will likely have these same wear characteristics. I'll post photos of this tomorrow as well so you can see it for yourself.

Included in the sale are the following items:

- Red 18-85 T2.9 PRO zoom lens
- Optitek Red 18-85 lens support with Red Universal Mount adaptor piece
- Storm iM2450 case with pre-plucked foam to fit the lens
- RedRockMicro Matte Box 18-85 compatible back bracket (no cost option)

We will ship the lens in the Storm iM2450 case for maximum security. We will pay for shipping, or pick up directly if you happen to be in Tokyo! :D

Storm case opened, foam is plucked to fit 18-85 lens with bracket attached and has a slot for the Universal Mount with the Optitek adaptor on it:

I've decided we can afford to pay for shipping so if that was stopping anyone thinking it is worth it, think again! :D

I've altered the prices to US dollars to make things easier to figure out, given the exchange rate is so close to 100 yen to the dollar at the moment.

Hi Paul and everyone,
I've just noticed that the adapter is assembled wrong:
The block should bolt to the other side of the Red Universal so the distance matches ARRI. The winged bolt goes from the bottom and is captured by the RU thread:thumbsup:

Oh! It's always worked the way I have it shown, but I will reverse it and see if it works even better :)

Price drop to US$9,500. This is lower than new price of lens, PLUS you're getting the Optitek lens support and Storm case thrown in essentially for free. This is a bargain if you ask me!

Do red still sell this lens? I have noticed people selling lenses RED that can't be found on the website. I might be crazy.

PS: Is the lens located in Japan, and are you australian by chance Paul?

Yes, Red still sell this lens but it has been backordered for months so someone wanting one today has the perfect opportunity by buying ours! :)

Just to note, you are still saving around US$1,000 or more off the new price of the package and even though backorders are slowly being filled, this lens is available today to someone who hasn't already ordered from Red.

I feel your pain Paul, but I think with the pro primes around the corner, and so many other lenses about to enter the market, people are going to hold onto their cash until they know what's what... Unless you provide an offer people have to look twice at.

Sadly, the value of glass is falling quick. This kinda sucks hard.

If you wait, and the other lenses are shit, then this one will be in demand.. Or... It could go the other way
