Has anyone seen something like the attached image happen at the end of a clip? (I wasn't on the actual shoot but I'm trying to help diagnose the possible issue).

From what the camera department tells me they were rolling beyond this frame but this is what's shown as the last frame in RCX, Resolve, etc. Thoughts?

Your saying it's the last frame in a clip that the camera department stated they rolled beyond?

That sounds to me like something happened during the data offload perhaps.

We've seen this artifact in the past develop mainly in one of two ways:

- a bad data copy/offload
- something wrong with the SSD Module/Media Bay (dirty, cable issue, or whatever)

Usually one of those two things.

Remember to always occasionally blow out your SSD bay and inspect it with a light. Bugs like to hide everywhere.

Thanks Phil.

Yes the camera department said the camera continued to roll beyond that frame (and on several others that had the same issue). It appears to only have happened on one mag but I believe it was the last mag shot so obviously that doesn't right away point to it just being one bad mag. I do know that the person that contacted me was able to retrieve the mags they shot with and they're running red undead on them (since the rental house already formatted them). Maybe they'll get lucky...

An offload issue was my assumption as well. I'm not sure what the offload process was but I've already stressed good drive practices and checksumming in the future.

Looks like what I have seen in the past as data corrupted during transfer.

Looks like a bad transfer - if you can scrub past it on the original media - it might be a show-stopper frame during transcode - so maybe you could go right up before it and right after it if there is anything essential there.

Dan -

Can't scrub past it on the r3d... the file just ends there. I'm chalking it up to a bad transfer (and this is why we hire DITs!)

Last time I saw this, it was with my old Scarlet MX and I had to send in my camera to fix it.
