  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Flare or artifact?!?!

looks like a flare (which is technically an artifact), but that's a really small, compressed shot. if you really want to know, at least upload an hd jpg...
 
lol you know what I meant. Sorry trying to do so files are too big let me see if I can get it on a drop box or something

That's a chroma artifact due to the light source entering the lens at such an extreme angle. A matte box or additional french flag would have eliminated this.

Ok awesome, I figured it was probably a flare but wanted to make sure since I had been seeing posts about strange artifacts. Thanks guys much appreciated!
 
yeah, you've got a bit of flare/glare going on... has to do with the angle. lens shade/matte box helps with that. or your hand blocking the sunrays from hitting the lens at an odd angle. it's kinda cool though. if you have to use the shot and it's bothersome/problematic you can do some photoshop/after effects painting - or go quick and dirty and just desaturate that area (matching it with the color of the building, rather) to draw attention away from all the beautiful colors. otherwise, you might want to draw more attention to it and add in some extra flare (preferably using a real flare source or a really good plugin if you've got one). or you can just say whatever, depending on the job requirements, and go have a beer. heck, whatever you do you can still go have a beer.
