My Dragon with new OLPF came back today so I decided to try my own "candle" test of sorts...
Flameon.jpg

Could not duplicate the "orb" and look at the rolloff on the clipped highlights! (there is a flare in the center of frame from some track lights, the match was too close for proper shading.)

I shot this @2K 240FPS, RC7 on a Leica 10mm f1.8 Macro Cinegon, a stupid sharp M mount lens that was originally designed for the Lecina 8mm home movie camera.
Makes a really great wide angle for high speed 2K work on the Dragon since it covers all the 2K formats and is sharp enough to make the 2K formats useable.
Shot at EI 400 but developed at EI 200.

Here's a 1080P Proress 4x4 Qt which is nearly 1:1 pixel for pixel on the sensor (1GB so I suggest you right/control click and download)....

It's lovely! Especially the color retention as it rolls toward white.

BTW, I want your collection of lenses. :)

Thank you evin!

and thank you for using the term EI as well. :)

i think it's the direction we should be heading.

Very nice image.

Funny that you use the macro cinegon. I've used it a couple of times; it was made by Schneider and the non macro version is readily and cheaply available in the old arri standard mount made for the Arri S , M and BL. I doubt there is optical difference between the two, but the price difference is steep.

Evin,

Are you seeing the type of noise on the low end that Luigi is seeing in his tests with the new OLPF and calibration?

Your video looks fine but I'm curious if you had to do anything to drastically clean up the image.

Awesome!

No cleanup Brian but I shot this at EI 400 knowing since it was 2K I'd be essentially blowing up the noise. So far in my limited fooling around I haven't noticed a difference from the old OLPF but I haven't done any significant testing, I just picked it up yesterday afternoon.

MAgnificent!!!!
Color rendition on the rollof from HL is one the points people use to refer as to far from ideal on Epics... IMHO it was always fine... but of course improving is always the way to go!

Not to start a War over here ;-) but the manufacturer rates them and I'm pretty sure they don't use very different standards from the 5 ways of doing it described by ISO. We should probably ask Red why they still use ISO? (And Arri ASA).
