I'm coming from stills with a substantial investment in Leica M lenses that I was hoping to make the transition with. Is a fixed mount the indefinite future of Raven?

I have one newbie question. What means fixed EF mount, does it mean that I can control f stop from camera or I need to have manual f stop on lens?

It's an active mount. You can control iris from camera and all metadata will be stored into the r3d file (focal length, aperture, etc).
Via foolcontrol and wifi you can also pull focus (with active lenses).
