  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

First shots from the new German Primes betatest

So any word on seeing samples of these lenses in motion? The stills are great, and I'm looking forward to seeing some actual footage now... :)

I'm also very interested to see the price ...

Laguun,

Why these lenses over the Red Prime set? I know there is probably space in the market for both but I'm curious as to your thoughts.

Ian

Different option, and they may even be cheaper. We'll find out soon.

i think its better to ask why these lenses and red lenses over 20 year old prime sets for the same price :) or the half of new UP.

hey we get a lot of choices...isnt that the fun part

These new primes have already been stated as being F1.7 / T1.9. So the RED primes are a wee bit faster. Laguun has yet to announce any pricing, but it seems the indicators are these lenses will be potentially cheaper than RED primes. However, it looks like the RED primes just got cheaper!

I'm thinking they're coming from Century/Schneider or ISCO, possibly P+S. Something tells me that they're the real deal and will be another nice option to consider.

Evin's theory about Jenoptik is interesting and seems like a good possibility too. Anyway, all just guesses at this point I think.

Screw old glass (it has it's place, just not on my camera;)) we want to know more about the differences in new lenses. I mean, if we wanted to compare old technology we'd be talking about film, right?

The bokeh looks very nice, but most lenses will deliver a nice bokeh when shooting wide open. Can we see some samples at 2.8+? We always stop down a bit to improve focus, contrast or to control the DOF...

I hate seeing triangles, pentagons, hexagons, octagons all over the place. Is Zeiss, Red listening too? The Lomos have more aperture blades than most 'modern' lenses.

Slowly lens manufacturers are going back to the old days when lenses had round apertures; most of the new zooms, even primes from Sigma (50mm f1.4) have more blades (9+) with rounded apertures, that will deliver beautiful backgrounds even when you stop down.

I agree, I also would love to see f2.8 and f5.6 grabs. Anything on these would be great, it has been a while since we heard anything. Unless I missed something. Not that I am buying a set... just curious so see what's happening with lenses... how long till SALT?

Any word on moving samples?

10K euro has been stated.

actually, the basic set will be less than 10.000.

image quality (for those who care about that detail), is awesome.
