  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

First shots from the new German Primes betatest

So Laguun didn't give us an exact confirmation!

If he doesn't comment more then that means his answer is yes!

Because the silence about ISCO means ‘yes’!!!

Also he wrote "manufacturers" that could be a typo or a real info about

that even more vendors are involved in a production of those lenses!!!???

Doesn´t ISCO´s site say so ?

The product range of taking lenses is in development and will contain a series of fixed focal length lenses for broadcast applications with 4K-cameras as well as anamorphic attachments with the factor 1.33x which enables Cinemascope video films with horizontally compressed image content.

It would be nice if eventually these lenses had a brand name or manufacturer name to identify them in conversation -- "new German lenses" is a bit vague.

Yes. These could even be the "new Arri / Zeiss primes" I have heard some "chatter" about - but I'm guessing they are the ISCO primes.

Bokeh looks nice ! It's going to be an interesting few months for lenses.

Offer of testing in Los Angeles still open....

Hey Matt,

yeah, march & april 2009 will be *the* interesting months for prime lenses, not only the ones we are talking about in this thread.

The L.A. offer is -really- tempting, and i am thinking a lot about simply taking an weekend off, grab a flightcase with 5 lenses and fly over.

However, with all the work to finish here, it may become late may (or rushed before NAB) - And you will probably get the lenses before that.

Indeed, however please allow the last steps for protecting names, finalizing the service network etc to be completed before disclosing that.

The manufacturers will be, as said, a pleasant surprise. What i can clearly say, we are not talking about the new Zeiss Lenses - these are another product, and one should ask bandpro or abelcione about those.

Will the lenses be on show at the Bavarian Pavilion at NAB?

No. Its undecided if a) own booth, b) hotelroom or c) partner-booth.
I hope (and am working for) a public presentation.

However, anyone who wants to feel the mechanics / see the lenses and shoot an hour for themselves, just drop us an email or pm, beginning next week we have several slots open. An NDA until the end of April is required then, and shooting will have to take place in & around Berlin.

kaya, sorry for the shameless push of MY new german primes thread - but can you send me the id of some of the cooke shots? i cant tell them apart for sure (the cooke were a slight little bit slower, but with all the flashes etc its almost impossible to tell) and dont have the shotlist on the raid here.

and hurry up, i have to leave the studio now and go to bed :)!

I´ll check and give you the shot names tomorow

i call you

ok, side by side with zeiss & cooke not before tomorrow - kaya will send me the xml. anyhow yay to not daring to differentiate by the eye between the cookes and the new lenses.

I am going offline now soon, for 4K grabs, please PM me.
There are so much more images to come - cant wait to be allowed to post.

If the lenses are of the quality and price people desire

What is a REALISTIC delivery date should they be ordered at the beginning of their availability?

It appears that you have a solid product in the works Jan but in all due respect, lenses and lens mounts designed for Red have been a little slow in development/delivery. I am ready to invest in primes if the price is right. I'm just wondering how far down the road I could expect to have them in hand.

Thanks

The lenses are looking great- any word on the pricing?

i did order,
i am really really happy with the price...(you will be surprised--i am not allowed to talk about prices until a certain date)
asfaik all betatesters ordered lenses.

i expect them soon

realistic: early april if you are in the closed order group as we are.
For people ordering later this march i would estimate ~2 months, maybe 80 days until the parcels arrive.

pay and pick up in germany would be faster.
however please allow us and them to finalize all plannings in the next days ~ 2 weeks. things as the international service network, warranty duration, focal lenghts in the standard 1.7 prime set, name protection, and, if they go that route, final distribution talks at nab have to be completed.

i however expect that they will be surprised a bit by the amounts of orders. End-april, when many of us folks here have used their lenses, there might be a slightly longer backorder than 60 days. However i warned them that there could be thousands of customers at once.

i sincerly hope they will follow the example red has demonstrated and go direct.

as far i understand it the manufacturers will offer great deals for *red owners* soon. i recommended that often and clearly, as i see most of the 35mm market swinging to red.

their ability to deliver is, i have to admit that, quite impressive. we are talking thousands of lenses monthly. however, they are still deciding how much manufacturing capacity to put into the prime series right now.

i (and many others here in germany) already ordered and for us, they didnt miss a single date.

Also, and i really like that, they are both: -huge- industry and involved & careful regarding our marketplace.

well, we are so far not allowed to discuss prices, but think avalanche level. pretty similar to what red did with their red one to the usual 35mm cameras. i wouldnt be surprised if everyone would be surprised. i certainly was :)
