  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

First Pic of Working Fixed Lens Red Scarlet

Great post Tonaci, and great to see you last week! Yeah ... the SCARLET program is crazy real - it really blew me away. People should really think twice before they buy an F3 or AF100.

Well I'll probably have a working AF-100 in hand by Christmas, can't say that for Scarlet or Epic Lite. I'll be making money with it by next month and it'll make my RED buying experience that much more possible financially. On on top of that, I'll already have my lenses and accessories in place for when the Epic Lite finally comes around.

Not trying to troll you, just that as cool as the Scarlet is, it's not here yet and there's no reason to sway away from the AF-100. At under $5k...it's a steal.

AF-100 Now...Scarlet/Epic Light Later...is how I, and many of us see it.

I see a camera like that and I immediately think big chip. It's really nice but people in this bracket are used to their big sensors, whether you need them or not is not the issue. The Epic S will be a revolution.

Justin your still a lucky lucky man thanks for info re internal ND filters.

All those suckers buying AF101's will be wondering what the hell and why they spent $6000.00 on for a work AF101 hehehe ok couldn't resist.

I'd happily hire the "sucker" properly using the 4/3" camera or renting an MX Red One in January 2011 before I'd hire the guy waiting for a Scarlet...

It's what you do with it that counts, and professionals will be making amazing images with both cameras in 2011. Don't knock it till you try it ...

On a red shoulder pad rig, is there a way to attach the LCD monitor on the side ? Red arm ?

I know I may get flamed for this and I half don't blame anyone, but I just have to push the point 1 small step forward. About the cable from the monitor to the camera.

Ok, purely from an aesthetics perspective, I think the camera looks much better without the cable (optional internal hook up if possible to develop). Ok, I realize that could be tough based on the size, etc...I just wonder (out loud) how much bigger the camera would have to be to take this eye sore (cable) and have the option of just snapping the monitor onto the brain?

I suppose it shows that I like Apple products...design...something to be said for not just using the best equipment but the best looking/cleanest setup from an aesthetics perspective. Ok, enough said here.

Regardless I will buy a Scarlet and love it even with the little eye sore cable. Thanks all for indulging my pet peeve. Does anyone else see it this way or am I alone here?

Thanks.

Indeed. I got to hold the Epic last Thursday night, and the Side Grip is fantastically comfortable.

Thirded. Held an earlier prototype at NAB this year. Looked clunky but was very comfortable in the hand.

I love that idea and I hope you guys explore it. It looks so right with it on there.

David

sounds like you guys all are on the same page... Jim and I will sit down in the next couple weeks and see if we can move things around a bit to make it happen.

Indeed. I don't get "Red Fanboy" attitude. I want an S35, Epic Light as much as the next guy. But I will have an AF-100 in hand in a couple weeks and making money with it. Why do I need to be on one side or another? I'll be waiting for Scarlet, but I'll have an AF-100 on me as I stand in line.

I am a "Red fanboy" but I buy the F100 too. I will be very happy to sell it when the scarlett will be there.

Are you able to mount the monitor upside down? If it doesnt already exist It would useful to have a rotate monitor function built into the scarlet AND epic.

I see it the same way. I love Apple design too.

That being said, I can live with a small cable and I would shoot with an EPIC even if it was pink and ten times bigger.
What I love about RED is the incredible price and the unbelievable specs. No one has done this before.
