  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FINAL CUT PRO X now supports native R3D

ok, that is a pretty cool implementation. and just in time too! i have project shot on Epic landing in my suite later this week which I was thinking about cutting in X but hadn't sorted out the workflows yet... nice one.

Sure, but you could already do that with the R3D when you set it to decode at a lower resolution

Thanks...I'm new to the Red family and I didn't realize that was doable. Either way, this plugin is a huge deal to me.

Where is Terry VerHaar? He must be too busy downloading to comment.

LMFAO, I was wondering where he is too!

ps still no native R3d support for FCPS3 without transcoding, right? I am a Scarlet shooter, so no qt proxies on my mag..

Hey, Guys, I am here!

Had to run out just after I saw the announcement but not before I installed it. Just got back to my desk and looking forward to trying it out.

Needless to say, I am jazzed!!:emote_happyhappy:

Great implementation! And with fcpx's automatic proxy or prores offlines, automatically relinking beween those with one click and (unless I read wrong), even 5k export (does premiere support that?)... I think it suddenly became a serious contender for many again in the NLE landscape...

Premier supports 5K export. Seriously reconsidering my switch to premier though. Will here how other's think it compares.

The idea of cutting a long form narrative on FCPX makes me cringe.

interesting since Dean Devlin has cut all of Season 5 of Leverage 100% on FCP-X ... maybe give him a shout - he is super approachable and a tech savvy guy.
Its not perfect yet but since the announcement of FCP-X its been getting better and better as promised... which is amazing given its being developed by a cell phone company :)

this is great news...however it doesn't seem to be working for me :/

I updated the red rocket installer....then installed the apple workflow but final cut X still wont let me import any R3D files. what am I missing ?

The new FCPX needs to be updated to 10.0.6. but you also need 10.8.2. Oh no!
