So after some research, I've realized that getting my FCP edit into After Effects using Automatic Duck will be the easiest way to output a DPX sequence to send to the color corrector. Problem is, the comp that is created in AE is quite daunting.

I have an FCP edit that has been imported into AE with mixed resolutions including 1280x720 dvcpro movies, and 2k and 4k resolutions. I'd like to know the best way to get all of these into AE so I can output to 1920x1080 DPX sequences for the color corrector. I've noticed reading some other threads that I'll have to do some trickery within AE to to get the color right and what not and I'm hoping this is outlined somewhere so I can eliminate some of the guesswork. Any help you guys could give on this particular workflow would be great. Thanks so much.

Hi, since you signed up in 2008. not sure if you misunderstood the new sign in rules but this is a Real name forum now. Please add it to your signature line and alert the mods. first initial last name or last intial first name is fine too. just a heads up before mods
see your post.

as for workflow, first simple question, why not use color if its already in FCP?

TONS and TONS of Adobe workflow threads on here via search. multiple resolutions are challenging on any desktop workflow.

Quantel is resolution coexistent, if you have a budget, have a post house do it in a day or maybe three tops... money well spent and can is a real, real time finisher what you see is what you'll get outputted to any standard in the world.

as for Adobe and Automatic Duck... yes, DPX is always a good workflow, but does take some storage, especially if this is a feature you are talking about. May have to export each resolution separately though.

There is a free way to do it going, FCP ---> PREMIRE CS4 --> AE CS4
