  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Final Cut import plugin working with build 16??

New REDCINE just came out, too.

the beta version of the FCP L&T plugin is not compatible with build 16. An
updated version is being prepared now, and will be available for download
soon.
 
Great news Reinhart! Looking forward to it.
Were you able to add some new/different options to it compared to the previous version?
 
I suppose Apple just made the programmers rework the plug-in again with FCP 6.0.4 and QT 7.5 – so don't hold your breath.

Appreciate the info. With Build 16 and Redspace out and about, the new L&T tool is much sought after. Do you have an ETA yet? Be interested to know if it'll support other qualities (1:1 now the codec supports it) and scaling options (1080p transfer from 2 or 4K would be awesome).

I've been using L&T upto build15 but now with build 16, I had to use the proxys but it worked fine including the Crimson Workflow and did my offitial Red One telecine work for TV commercial of "Damage" DVD today.

The user interface is defined/fixed (by Apple) so there isn't a lot of room for adding options. Basically, whatever we do has to fit into the single "gear menu". Adding heterogeneous options there would cause great confusion, thus my hesitation. For example, people want the option to ingest
2K->2K and 2K->1K. To allow you to choose I would have to include that in the color presets menu. So, if you select that option the check mark moves from the previously selected color profile to the newly selected resolution profile leaving you unaware of the selected color profile, etc. etc. etc.

I'm pushing for more menus, or at least sub-menus to support additional options.

So, the answer to your question is no new options, at least none selectable by the user. It will fully support all the options provided by the latest quicktime codec (16:9 ingests, 2K->2K, 1K->1K,...4K will still ingest to 2K as that is a FCP limitation).

not at all. 6.0.4 actually enabled some features for us.

Great to hear! So is it already considered safe by Red to use QT 7.5 ?

Any word yet on an ETA? Got a project approaching and would love to be using this? Not trying to add to your problems, just wondering...

Also, can you let us know if the QT7.5 update is ok?
