Filter Tilt

I recently purchased an Bright Tangerine Atom Misfit clip-on. It has an optional tilt filter accessory, however once the accessory is installed, filters are always tilted 6 degrees up. Will this degrade the image? Does it get worse with longer focal lengths? Unfortunately, removing and installing the tilt bracket involves 2 tiny screws so not ideal for changing in the field. I wonder whether its preferable to use the matte box built with or without the tilt.

I leave the tilt in place nearly all the time, unless I am wanting to flare out the lens.

I have not had any negative effects on the image. But, if you are concerned... shoot some tests and let us know what you discover.

It's usually best to run filters flat to the lens if possible. Tilting filters can be useful to avoid reflections back onto your subject in backlit situations, but it can also increase the chance of flare, veiling glare, and loss of sharpness. Remember that it is an additional optical element in the imaging path that the light has to travel through to make it onto the sensor. I would only use the tilt module when required for a particular shot.
