  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FilmConvert - Film Stock Emulation for Red Cameras

Nigel, you need to pull up some blacks on default result without adjustment. It gets pitch black pretty quickly, its very tricky to get it back sometimes especially on plugin where you absolutely have very little control as opposed to standalone.

Currently the OFX FilmConvert plugin is really quite Vegas specific, as there is some special sauce that needs to be applied to get it to work there. With any luck though, in the next few months we'll be able to pop out a more generic version that works (and that we're able to test for you) across quite a few more platforms.

Hey Rivai,
Just curious: have you checked out our updated standalone FilmConvert ( http://filmconvert.com/download/default.aspx) ? We've just recently split out the film-colour and film-curve adjustments into separate sliders so that you can get more control over how this works, which should help the concerns that you have over the image toe - we'd be keen to hear your feedback on this.

We're also working on getting all the standalone UI elements into the plugins, so hopefully we can give you the same controls across all the FilmConvert gizmos.

does foilm convert ulitize cuda or red rocket?

Our fine standalone product uses red rocket when available, as well as hardware based OpenGL to do some of the image based float processing.

The plugins currently use whatever is supplied by the parent application to do the extraction of RED data, with the next update to our After Effects / Premier plugins bringing OpenCL based hardware acceleration to the FilmConvert processing.

We don't use CUDA mainly due to the fact that it's NVIDIA only, while both OpenGL and OpenCL work across a host of hardware manufacturers.
