Film Making Masterclass with Final Cut Pro X

Thanks for posting these videos Brian and for your comment! Yeah, I had forgotten about this thread since I hadn't posted to it in a while. All of the videos just seemed to start revolving around some new FX plugins that were being used ad nauseam by Final Cut Pro users. You've found more useful tutorials .

Brian,

It just seems like, from reading their response, that they dont feel that the talented professional users of Final Cut Pro actually understand how to use it correctly. That if they offer certification training for Final Cut and make their users believe that they are " Reprioritizing Their Existing Priorities" that that will shut everyone the Hell up.

It sounded kinda condescending like we will get individuals whom have " Actaully Made a Movie" with Final Cut Pro to show you " Wannabe" moviemakers how to actually use it.

Hey Rand,

Your assessment could very well be correct though
the issue regarding training and certification requires some context.

A couple of years ago Apple cancelled their long time certification program for Final Cut Pro and I believe the rest of the Pro Apps.
It kind of pulled the rug under trainers and others who relied on official Apple certification and they were quite angry as a result.
A new certification program was released earlier this year that includes FCP and other Apple Pro Apps.
I think Apple bringing up the certification training was to show that it was an issue they recently addressed.

The mention of regular contacts with "industry experts" sounds encouraging though I think Apple might also consider providing
more interaction with the users who give direct feedback to Apple concerning FCP to understand the needs from the point of view
of someone who already took the time to assess a problem or weak spot in the app.

I signed the original petition and think it's a decent 1st step to see Apple acknowledge the customer concerns.
I believe the pro FCP user base feels somewhat invisible in the greater sphere of Apple's business
and this simple response helps to somewhat alleviate that.

I also think some of the motivation behind this petition is actually a response to BMD's rapid and consistent development of Davinci Resolve and Adobe's heavy advertising of Premiere and Creative Cloud.
I believe some FCP users lament that Apple does not seem to have the same level of development, support or even enthusiasm
for the Apple Pro Apps.

I'm personally a little mixed with the progression of development with FCP.
The development pace has definitely slowed down in the last few years but I like that FCP
is still very stable, fast, and has minimal signs of bloat.

There are some long time requested features that have taken several years to be introduced into FCP.
While Apple can seemingly take forever they normally do a very thorough job when implementing new features.
I really think Apple goes through several iterations of a given feature before it's actually released and it shows.

In contrast, my experience is some of the other editing platforms seem to either rush the development of features and/or
the feature is buggy and unstable upon release.

Still, some requests like collaborative editing are yet to be implemented and these "missing features" are becoming
a growing concern. That concern is heightened by Apple's secrecy on unreleased products.

It's hard to tell and at the end of the day FCP users are concerned with what Apple actually does vs the promises.

Having said all of this, I'm editing projects on FCP as I type and I still find it the most powerful and straightforward editing application
to get work done fast and easy.

Still happy that options like Avid (which I first learned about 25 years ago), Premiere, Resolve, Lightworks, Vegas, Eidus, Hit Film, among others, continue to exist and have active user bases.

We'll see what happens. Until then....

Brian,

Hopefully Apple will do a better job in the future of really listening to and providing for the needs of their die-hard user base.
