the soul seeks satisfaction... finds it in work. but the work must have substance to feed the soul. satisfaction is an elusive fish. it swims upstream to escape our grasps. we weave nets of intellect and creativity and sometimes snare the prize, but only for a little while. the scales of satisfaction's body are slippery and closure is but a temporary cage.
Now that we're wrapping up post production on the last short, I'm feeling the symptoms of withdrawal. I am anxious, emptied and bordering on depression. I dive into the pre-production of the next project and become consumed by the details. I lose myself in preparations, logistics and equipment lists... not to mention the script and pre-visualizations. I hunger for the next scene, a quiet moment around a few actors... the lights carefully placed and flagged, the cameras poised, my eyes tensely focused on the monitor, one hand on the right grip and the other on the pan-handle, my stomach in knots yet my soul at peace.
Hi. I'm Chris and I'm an addict.
