Hi Red,
Please add four S16mm high-speed capture modes that record RedCode RAW at a center crop of the sensor, as follows:
All of these can be done now by shooting 3K 2:1 and cropping, but that limits maximum framerates, uses more data than necessary, and makes it impossible to generate proxy files off of the camera using an external recorder.
My sense is that framerates of 250fps should be possible with these settings, a 25% increase over 3K 2:1. It will also avoid the softness at 1080p delivery that occurs with 2K recording today.
Anyone who wants to get the S16mm look could use these modes. At the ~80% debayer efficiency RedCineX has now, the footage should be very, very sharp, and we still get all the benefits of shooting RAW. All but the largest sizes are covered by the full set of Illumina S16 T1.3 primes without vignetting.
If anyone else would like to see this, please let Red know.

- 2400x1350 (that's 16:9 aspect ratio, targeting 1080p, 12.96mm x 7.29mm effective sensor size)
- 2498x1350 (that's 1.85:1 aspect ratio, targeting a 2K DCI master at 1998x1080, 13.49mm x 7.29mm sensor size)
- 2560x1072 (that's 2.39:1 aspect ratio, targeting a 2K DCI master at 2048x858, 13.82mm x 5.79mm effective sensor size)
- 2560x1350 (that's 1.9:1 aspect ratio, targeting a full raster 2K DCI master, 13.82mm x 7.29mm effective sensor size)
