seeing as it is a flicker free safe speed and all. I would even trade it with 48fps if I could. 50fps is flicker free for people in 50hz world, so keep that of course. 48 while being double 24fps isn't flicker free. it would go 24, 25,30,40,50 (which would, depending on your hz rate (country) would all be flicker free. Or better yet, keep 48fps but add 40fps and hope people have read their ASC manual :)
manually adding a custom frame rate is just barely annoying enough that i shouldn't have to do it for 40fps.
but work on a clean full raster edge to edge 1080 sdi out first. :)

Amen to 40fps. When not using the touch screen it is a drag to enter. My understanding is we will be able to create our own favorites for the sliing bar at some point. But for now I also vote for making it a standard.

?????
I think, and certainly hope that Epic will have any framerate available between fraction fps up to 300 fps.
48 is super important to keep. it's a double of 24, so all shots are not shot in flicker environments but there are for sure shots that need the x2 factor to be able to deal away frames to get down to real time frame rates and such in post.
According to Mark Roberts, that is our moco supplier, they will be able to control the Epic to run on varispeed between extreme slow frame rates up to 300. Which is used a lot in the Moco world. So the Epic should work just as a MRMOCO Mitchell in terms of frame rate. But I guess it's something that is not first on the priority list for red. Even though we can't wait to get it. External varispeed control that is...

Not trying to sabotage 48fps. Just suggesting that 40fps - a very common frame rate for my commercial work - be on the "top layer" of the drop down sliding menu. Like 24, 30 and 48 are now. Any frame rate can be typed in, but since 40 fps is so very common, it would be great to just be able to select it and not go to the menu keyboard and HAVE to type it in.

Yes. By all means keep 48. But 40 would be really, really nice. Comes up a lot.

It does. It's just that only certain speeds are available on the drop-down list. The others have to be entered by number.
